That was the most gripping 20mins opening to a programme I've seen in a long time. Has the makings of a very enjoyable thriller. Interesting and topical back story.

I've set that programme on a series recording. The first episode was gripping and entertaining. Looking forward to future episodes.

Thoroughly enjoyed the first instalment and look forward to the rest albeit with some reservations as the Beeb's recent offerings have tended to fizzle out like a damp squib. Still, we live be in hope.

Clashes with Guy Martin v Jenson Button on C4 tonight. There'll be arm-wrerstling to see who gets priority versus catch-up. wink

Can't wait for the next episode! Gripping, edge of the seat stuff in the first episode followed last night with (for me) the shocking attempt at taking school children's lives. How many viewers shouted "Oh No!" as the van hurtled towards the gates?!

Mundane it is not. Topical and realistic, sadly it is.

With all with the sub-plots yet to be revealed,   I have set the series to record - just in case!

The terrorists evil smirk when he detonated the bomb did it for me . Great bit of acting , if only for a millisecond.

Gripping and excellent acting. Anyone else clock the GoT stand off in episode 2? Two very good actors inhabiting different roles!

    GoT?

It is difficult to quite know where this is leading. That is not a criticism because it adds to the drama.

Sorry DK, Game of Thrones, should have put full title. Stand off between two actors from both programmes. Different outcome though.

Enjoying this, as you say, where will it go next?

Makes sense now!!! Never watched Game of Thrones as I don't have Sky TV so have no idea about the programme other than having heard it mentioned quite a bit.

Cult viewing. It was a few years before I started watching, it's an acquired taste for some, lots of violence and sex, but the characters and story are gripping. A roller coaster of twists and turns every series. Based loosely upon things such as War of the Roses, Hadrian's Wall, some other aspects of history.

I have listened to the audio books, unabridged, and to be honest, they are not as good as the TV adaptation in terms of story. The sets, costumes, locations are very interesting in themselves, a whole tourist industry in Ireland! Some big name actors as well, Charles Dance, Diana Rigg, Sean Bean, Jim Broadbent to name a few. Series are often quite a low price if bought via iTunes, usually around 10 hours viewing with lots of extras. We don't have Sky either, so I am always playing catch up!

But be warned, as I say very violent and you wouldn't let your Granny watch the sex scenes!surprised

Thanks for taking the trouble to explain but it doesn't sound like my sort of thing. Sounds like Lord of the Rings with sex!!!!

enjoying it so far, glad they didn't try and make her too likeable a character, that would just have been unbelievable for a politician laughing

I believe Keeley Hawes shadowed Amber Rudd MP for a while, to get an understanding of a female politician .Guess if there's a dance scene in a future episode , she's had a nosey at Theresa Mays efforts .😂😂.

So many questions - so many possibilities!

I'm not convinced that the Home Secretary (Keeley Hawes) is actually dead?

Twists and turns with lots of sub-plots makes for an enjoyable show imho.

It does seem strange that such a high profile actor is only in two episodes. Will our hero get to the bottom of it before the security forces. Gina Mckee is also another high profile actor and I wonder if she will be made a scapegoat?

There was an interview with the writer, Jed Mercurio, in the Guardian today. He said he decided to kill off the main character half way through the series because people always assume they will still be there at the end! He said "I like to try and do things that move the story on, and with The Bodyguard I wanted to have this event mid-series that would completely alter the dynamic"

As I said earlier I've been recording the series to watch at a convenient time. Every episode has been great. I've just watched the penultimate episode today and am really impressed by the story line , the acting and the characters.  Really looking forward to the final episode on Sunday.

    The plot thickens........

Really enjoyed the series and as K said, well acted. Written by the same team which did Line of Duty, I thought it would be good viewing and I'm not disappointed.

I was glad it was not Gina McKee that was the baddie. Perhaps they have plans for her in the second series. I must say I was concerned as the car drove off at the end but I assume a second series would also include DS Budd? It certainly was edge of the seat stuff. At first I thought they were going to shoot him!!! I thought it interesting how the girl on the train with the suicide belt turned from being a frightened little girl to a serious terrorist!!!
