Statics for disabled members

I have wondered why the C&MHC don't add a couple of statics at some of their larger sites which are adapted for people with a disability but also allow members to take their dog as well.  Kendal for example, is a lovely site and my disabled son would be able to access the paths in his wheelchair in and around the site easily and even visit parts of the very large dog walk as it is not too steep.  It is easy to find statics which take dogs and there are statics which are adapted for disabled users but, very rarely can you find one which accepts both.

    I think you would be better contacting the companies whos main  accommodation and holiday target is statics caravans rather than what would be a very small niche type of accomadation for the cc or the ccc for that

    You’d need to ask the club, really, VBFG.

    I'm guessing here but it might be that most sites don’t have the correct planning consent or licence to allow static vans, or maybe there simply isn’t the perceived need within the club membership for statics plus dogs.

    If you want to make your voice heard by the club, you could attend an AGM or one of the question time sessions.

    Some of the Glamping offerings could well be suitable for those using a wheelchair.

    Not easy to find one that accepts dogs I suspect though

    T&C's regarding Pets:-

    13) Pets

    (1) Dogs (including guide dogs) are only permitted in a specified Experience Freedom accommodation where a dog friendly supplement is payable. Pets are accepted subject to availability of dog friendly accommodation and only when a supplement is paid.


    (2) When booking dog friendly accommodation no equipment is provided. Guests must supply all their own equipment for the dog such as dog bed, food and water bowls, waste bags, towels etc.


    (3) Dogs are the only type of pet permitted in the dog friendly Experience Freedom accommodation.


    (4) Only one dog per unit can be accepted in the accommodation.

    (5) You and any member of your group are not permitted to keep pets in your vehicles during your stay.


    (6) If pets are found within any Experience Freedom accommodation or guest's vehicles, we are entitled, without prior notice, to terminate your booking. In this situation you and the members of your group will be required to leave the site. No refunds will be made and we will not pay any expenses or costs incurred as a result of the termination.

    You might that one or two of the club holiday cottages are suitable. I found this bungalow at the Camelford site and dogs are allowed. Room for several people too.

    I am surprised that guests with assistance dogs are charged extra. They are working dogs, being able to bring along an assistance dog might well determine whether or not that guest could actually use the accommodation. Charging extra would appear to be discriminatory?

    If that is taken from Experience Freedom guidance, then it needs some discussion before it is challenged.
