Do any of you good folks use an inflatable Kayak. We kayak a lot at home and think an inflatable in the back of the motorhome could be quite fun.

If you kayak a lot already, you'll be well aware of the dangers of inflatables, that they're easily blown well away from land, so can be very dangerous in inexperienced hands, so I'm mentioning this for those who aren't so aware!

I used to practically live in my kayaks as a teenager, and still miss the enormous pleasure they gave.

    Have fun :-)

Yes, we had a great time with ours. Go Outdoors have a similar one to ours priced at just over £300.00. We paddled it on the River Great Ouse, River Stour and the Norfolk Broads. When we toured France there were many sites on the banks of lakes and rivers. There was just room for two adults and two Jack Russells. We gave it to a young family last year as at 70 years old we were finding it just a little too cramped. Don’t buy a cheap plastic one at a beach shop. Ours was really tough, with an outer canvas skin held in shape by inflatable inner tubes. Sometimes it was more practical to hire a canoe. Hire companies usualy bus you somewhere upstream and then you paddle back to base. As easy as poo sticks!!

Another fan of both inflatable & rigid Canadian👍🏻. I did it solo, if you do then carry your phone in case of emergencies(check it’s splash proof). There’s nothing more beautiful than an early morning in the middle of a lake in Autumn surrounded by rising mist, gently bobbing whilst listening/watching the wildlife. Happy paddling👍🏻😊

Thank you folks for your helpful replies. I forgot about the boat show and will be in Poole,  Dorset then. We have camped by so many lakes it would certainly be lovely to have the facility to pop a boat on the water at will. Had not thought of an inflatable but I understand some are very good now.

Enjoyed and owned kayaks, canoes, surf shoes etc in their many 'guises'. Last year I contemplated buying a specialist fishing kayak for coastal and lake use. Sense got the better of me due to age and lack of a companion, not wise at all to go out alone or even for that matter in a double in my opinion. Oh, to be young again! Never owned or contemplated an inflatable or semi inflatable though. Let us know how things progress.

We have a rigid Canadian. Sadly haven't got to use it much, but being out on a lovely river is a wonderful experience. We have done River Fowey on a few occasions, truly magical, even having to tow over sand bars in places on a receding tide! Lots of wildlife and birds up close. Just wish we could easily stick it on top of MH, but it's too heavy. Toying with idea of an inflatable, but not for sea trips, too dangerous for us.

We are very lucky in that we live by a river. We love to jump in the Kayak and have a paddle. We see lots of wildlife, Otters , Kingfishers, Herons etc. Never thought of an inflatable until a friend brought his round. Was quite impressed. Often camping by rivers, lakes and sea. I think one would add another dimension to our touring.

We stayed at Skybarn Farm CL Lincoln over the recent bank holiday weekend and we were enjoying lunch at the Pyewipe Inn a few miles outside Lincoln.

As we sat in the beer garden a gentleman kyaked along the Fossdyke and as he climbed out onto the bank I commented as to its suitabillty for caraveners especially as he then deflated it, rolled it up and walked back to his car.

Well. We have now had a good look at many inflatable kayaks and bought yesterday a Gumotex Seawave from Norfolk Canoes. Very nice. Incredibly well made and very adaptable for up to 3 people although only 2 of us. They roll up quite small and weigh about only 17kg. They come with a rucksack style bag to allow to be carried easily on your back. I'm 6' 1" and quite fit and find that no problem. We had fun last night pumping it up in our living room as it was raining outside. Well we didnt like to wet our new kayak did we!!! As we live by a river we sent a picture to our friends telling them we were preparing for floods!!!!!! Off to Dorset next week and will report back on how we get on if anyone is interested. Thank you once again for you feedback.

Mr S, if you’re sea kayaking be careful it’s a different ball game out there due to the swell & breakers.

Thank you for that. Indeed I have spent many hours at sea and understand the perils. We will only go out if calm and wind in right direction. We also hope to kayak on the inner waterways including the river Frome at Wareham. Looks really good there for a paddle. They do a lot of boat / canoe hire there too.
