Your Robin story made me smile Steve. We have what could be called a gormless wood pigeon in our garden. He or she built a nest in an elder tree in one of our hedges. However when the berries appeared they took precedent over the nest. The routine has been, gorge on the berries, fly to pear tree look miserable all day as said berries leave the system forming a dark mound on the grass underneath the branch. This gets repeated daily.
Just glad the perch isn't on the washing line!

Isn't technology wonderful. A some months ago we had to buy a new printer as the old one, which was an old friend gave up the ghost. Although we have high speed broadband its still often difficult to get all the computers to talk to each other so setting up one printer for all has proved difficult. I was playing with the new printer the other day and print off came off the printer. It said you can just e-mail documents direct to the printer (it has its own e-mail address) which was wonderful news! Only mistake I made was telling one of my son's about this. He now e-mails his letters over to my printer!!!

The Tour of Britain has been past our lane end a few times, so we can get a close up (but quick) view. This was the Peloton in 2007. Mark Cavendish was out on his own ahead at that point, but ended up second on the stage (I think).
The cows seem to be enjoying it as well.

Considering the weather forecast "advised"the light rain in the far east would clear by lunchtime the warden here a Great Yarmouth said it has been quuite heavy since about 0200 hrs and we "found" heavy rain near Norwich 1300 and it is still raining, site quite busy,and an all grass site numerous motor caravans all on grass

Part of the fun watching it on TV is seeing how livestock reacts to all that is going on. Somewhere online are some YouTube clips of mainly horses that have joined in! Very scary...........

Keeping busy at the "new house", the project seems to have "grown arms and legs", which is not so good but only to be expected.
Demolition in the main bedroom/bathroom is done and tomorrow we get a delivery of plasterboard to start reconstruction. Electrics are sorted and DD has ordered up all the stuff needed.
A new heated towel rail and a bigger radiator have arrived, so they have to be plumbed in. Mentime I have been replacing old TRVs with new ones.
Still more demolition and reconstruction needed in Callum's room, then we can get in the plasterer.
The girls have been out today and bought a huge amount of new tiles for the main bed en suite, so it seems I will be spending a good deal of time tiling soon!!
The replacement of white painted skirtings with oak ones is growing too, as is the need for new flooring as we found that the carpet in Callum's room had been cut round the cupboards, which DD wants to relocate. So I now have 2 rooms in which to replace the flooring.
Otherwise I have been doing a few little things like planing off doors and/or skirtings or sorting latch plates as doors were difficult to close.
It would seem that these defects were well hidden on viewing......would anyone think to try closing a door? The stuff used in the house is good quality, but the workmanship is, IMO, very poor. Neither OH or DD would have accepted such poor workmanship if paying for it!
They are used to having everything completely right, and I do like to do a good job when I do things.
When we had our house built we had a couple of great joiners who took pride in their work, everything they did was 100%, I have not had to make any changes, so we are not used to this slap-dash way of doing things.

I watched a fiery pre dawn display at 06:05hrs, the sun just below the horizon casting its glow on the ribbon of cloud, with mist in the hollows, very Autumnal. Enjoy your day👍🏻😊

Had a lovely day yesterday. The weather was very pleasant- blue sky plenty of sun and warmish. We decided to have a beach day. Not one of those lolling on the beach, but visiting two beaches.
First place was Porthdinllaen. We parked up in the NT car park. The chappy told us of a circular walk. So off we trotted (well hardly at a trot
. Had a steep walk up the road to the golf course. Then meandered through the course (luckily there was only one person playing in that part so didn't have to dodge flying golf balls). We eventually dropped down to the beach. A lovely spot with fantastic views. The sparkling blue sea, hills and way off towards the horizon The Republic of Ireland. We decided to sit on the pub's veranda ( Ty Coch inn) and have coffee. We were 2 tables away from the Queen. Well she looked the spitting image of her, but I doubt Elizabeth wear a sweatshirt with pictures of border collies on the front.. Having had coffee and not wanting to rush off we then had lunch there. Time to get moving so we walked along the beach. Walked up a steep slope and then had to negotiate 60 very steep steps up the hillside to reach the car park. The 4'' and 6'' risers were few and the 9'' and 12'' risers many and so it was rest on my stick every 10 steps whilst I convinced my hip that it was fine 
We then drove to another beach - Porth Oer better known as Whistling Sands. Both of us have been before many many years , but not together. As there is a steep path down to the beach OH decided to take her little used walking stick as well. Once on the beach we scuffed our feet through the sand to make it whistle. I couldn't hear anything as the sun was not hot enough to thoroughly dry the sand. Made our way to the beach cafe for tea/coffee and scones. Again a lovely view. Neither of us fancied a walk along the length of the beach as we would need all our courage to get back up the hill. We eventually managed it.

Thanks from me also, two good posts to start the day. I am going to try and go to the coast today, just for a coffee and some sea air. Hope you all have a good day and once again a sincere thanks for your kind replies to me over these last couple of weeks. The advice to have a break is a good one for us, we can't go yet but I am looking to see if we can have a break in a few weeks time.
I overslept today, grandson woke me up at 7am, I wish I had his energy!

I used a little Nikon compact as I was too lazy to go under the stairs & get my Panasonic from the cam bag Mills, yup I’m that bad😂😂. Thanks, I love Autumn🍂🍁

While car mot’d yesterday I had a walk around Lowestoft, amazing really, it was like a ghost town. Down by the beach all the cafe’s and little arcades were closed, just a day after the schools reopened. Guess the town will now be open for the olds🏖😯

Today started very wet, just like it ended yesterday. Was going to stay for 3 days at a site near Saint Quentin but it was not good, grass very long, lots of mozzies and miles to walk to the facilities. So this morning we packed up and left.
We are now in the municipal site at Troyes, good site decent sized pitches and facilities central to the site. Doesn't look as if they have had any rain for a long time as the ground is rock hard and cracked. Will go out on the bikes in the morning and explore, the town looks as if it is worth a visit. Probably stay until Monday.
Sun still out though not on our pitch
it was 15c when we left Saint Quentin, arrived here it was 22c what a difference, jeans and tops off T shirts and crops on, now I'm on holiday.Have a good weekend folks.

Hi TG. Troyes has some lovely architecture. You can actually walk into town from the site if fairly fit. We've done it so it can't be that hard.
Rained off today but didn't mind that much as we needed a rest and Mrs WN has sniffles. Off home tomorrow. When we arrived we didn't know date of a funeral we want to attend. Thought it might be next week. Turns out it will be nearer to the end of the month so have to return home, pick up meds for another 2 weeks then head off again on Sunday. Phew.

We are away in the caravan for the weekend first outing for a month. We couldn't leave home until almost 5 so just came up to Loch Lomond which is only an hour from home. Once we had set up we went to the pub just across from the site and had a lovely meal very reasonably priced too. Not sure what we will be doing tomorrow nithing planned at the moment.

I think there were some very good comments about social media in there Goldie, except one, people who post photos of kittens....does he know about your photos...(well I liked them anyway.)
Do you ever feel when things are going wrong they go "wronger"? In the midst of our recent comings and goings OH ordered a large amount of floor tiles for our new conservatory. He'll be laying them himself, probably enjoy closing the door and keeping us all out! We had a phone call yesterday about the delivery today with the promise of a further call before they arrived. Of course no call came, we were having a rest this morning, son and grandson camping overnight in a barn in Wiltshire and suddenly the tiles appeared before 7.30 am. The delivery men were in such a hurry that one of them fell up our steps (had they waited for OH he'd have shown them an easier route.) So one delivery man with an injured hand and one big box of tiles smashed to smithereens. Onwards, as they say....?

We've just got back from a lovely week on a CL in Northumberland. I'm starting to tackle the washing pile this morning. 😕 We've had good weather (for Northumberland) as we only had one wet drizzly day. So we've done beach walking, Bamburgh Castle and Alnwick Gardens with lots of local pubs for drinks and meals. We found a great pub called The Ship near Low Newton beach that was fantastic for dogs and walkers. It was a limited lunch menu but done very well with queues out of the door. Such a great atmosphere, as the customers could sit outside on the village green right outside the pub with their dogs.
Now back to reality with work on Monday. 😐 Time to start planning the next trip........😊

Question for Goldie.
I seem to recall from one of your posts that you run an Organic Farm? Yesterday I was minding my own business looking at use by dates on milk, in readiness to go away. A lady asked me what milk she should buy if she didn't want the animals injected with antibiotics etc. That stumped me a bit. I suggested that she look at the Organic milk. Be interesting to know if I was correct but also the extent of what organic means in terms of milk and animal wellfare?

There’s a general move across all livestock farming to reduce the use of antibiotics (much the same as with humans). The standards can be read if you search Red Tractor Farm Assurance (all sectors) and Soil Association Standards (organic).

Sometimes antibiotics have to used to prevent animal suffering. Strict withdrawal periods are observed before the milk goes in the tank (organic is twice as long as conventional) and detailed records left. No medicine is given routinely without good reason.
We have to have a Herd Health Plan outlining all aspects of animal and veterinary care, and if we want to administer something outwith our plan we have to get a derogation from the Soil Association.

Thank you Goldie that is very useful. I am not sure why this lady collared me maybe just because I was there! I think she had been reading scare stories somewhere. The idea that I will be asked the same question again is very unlikely but I will certainly be more informed and ready.

ADD - Nice to see the photo of the Ship. I think you'll find a few users on here who have used it in the past, like us and Helen and Trevor. It's always popular and has it's own brewery so the beer doesn't travel far! Lovely part of the country.
Back home for a brief 1 night. Could hardly see coming over the Cat and Fiddle road to Macclesfield from Buxton this morning. The fog and mizzle lay everywhere. Safely home. Seems strange not unpacking the caravan and car but we're off again tomorrow to Cheddar, then a CL in Wiltshire, for about 16 days in total.
Used Mrs WN' s runaround to get to the shops when we got home as nothing in the larder for dinner. Mrs WN's sniffles turned into a 24 hour cold, now well on the mend.
Went out to the caravan to put something in it. 10 minutes later found something else but in the interim a dead wood pigeon seems to have found it's way about 12" underneath the van itself. Looks beautifully posed, like a Swan resting it's head. I think it may have flown into the van but how it then found it's way underneath is a mystery. Anyway now disposed of.

I got up early this morning and headed off on a lovely 20 mile cycle through some wonderful scenery and luckily no rain.it brightened up a bit this afternoon so we managed to sit outside the van with a drink although you can tell that autumn is approaching. We might take a walk over to the pub across from the site later for a pint.
