Looking to do a possible overnight at Tebay Northbound as we will be too late to check into a site, I understand the caravan site there is now closed. Can anyone please advise if the caravan bays are separate to the lorries and coaches, or mixed in with them.

As far as I remember, HGVs and caravans share. What’s more the car park slopes quite a bit so you’re unlikely to have a very comfortable night.

I’d find a site rather than stay in the services.

The caravan bays are easy to get in and out of as they herringbone off one of the main roads through the carpark onto the other. And as said above - they slope forwards. Not really suitable for overnighting.

I suggest you look for a site to do an overnight stop rather than try overnighting in any services when shared by HGVs

The site is not very caravan friendly with caravans mixed in with trucks and with limited space. You can however leave the Northbound services for the road over the motorway to the Southbound where there are decent facilities. It is, or was signposted last time we were there, but a quick look on Google Earth will show up the route.

The services them selves are some of the best in the UK but still cost.

If you want a site try Englethwaite Hall a bit further up the road. It has no barrier so you can get in. I would speak to the wardens and see what they say.

Tebay North did use to be one of the Club's "Night Halts" when it provided that service for members, but I think we need to look back to the previous century for when that stopped.
