Haven't been on here for a couple of days so missed Brue's news. So sad. My condolences.
Had a long session on the patch that we recently uprooted various bushes and trees from a few weeks ago. Now ready for some weed proof matting to go down and then gravel it and decorate with some bricks before putting up a nice wicket fence. Well that's the theory. It will have to wait until we come back from a 8 night trip to the Peak District. Keeping things fluid at the moment as we'll have to return to base to attend a funeral sometime soon. Off on Saturday so packing the van this afternoon. Always makes me happy.
Enjoy yourselves those who are away or just going.

The Christening of Gt Gt Nephew Toby James this week-end, then a three week tour of East & North Scotland to occupy my time. Since I long ago junked the 'lap top' & the 'phone is used for personal contacts only I will have a longish break from CT.
BUT , whilst I agree that Most on here are cheerful posters may I remind you all of how Malcolm was treated -- not nice at all.

TG and Wherenext have great trips, we are returning home tomorrow.
Mummy and daddy came and picked up the grandtwins after lunch.
I didn’t see them go as I had to go for a hospital check-up, further treatment needed on a new area.
Off to the pub shortly, I’ve read the local to this site serves a good pint of Adnams so I had better put it to the test. Could be away quite a while🍺🍺

Decided I did have time to hit the retail park before work, bought a new dinner service I'd had my eye on in M&S. With 20% off I just couldn't resist
I then spent the saving on a new top! Not such a bargain after all
Hope you had a good day out at Belvoir Castle Millie, we attended the National for the day when it was held there.
Wherenext I'am so jealous 8 nights in the Peak District, we spent the BH there, new CL near Ashbourne, its a such a great area for a holiday, which reminds me, I must write my review
Glad you had a time time with the twins Oneputt, and hope everyone enjoys their breaks away. We are at home this weekend, but after 3 weekends away I need one at home to get a few jobs done.

Sorry to hear you need more treatment OP. I hope you get the excellent treatment you had last time and that all is successful. Enjoy the rest of your trip away.
Have a lovely trip Tammygirl and keep us posted on how you are getting on with your new caravan.
Glad you enjoyed your retail therapy Helen and found a 'bargain'
.
We thoroughly enjoyed Belvoir Castle .... once we had got up there.... gosh it was a bit of an uphill treck from the car park
. We decided to go for the tour which was wonderful. The guide was excellent and very informative. The rose garden was also amazing. I am going to watch the Phil Spencer programme again this weekend now that we have actually visited the castle.

Have a good trip triky.
Gosh you were an early bird OP. It sounds like an excellent day.
I met some friends in town this morning and we went to the Museum for a coffee. One of the friends is just about to start as a volunteer there so we went to have a look at the latest exhibition where she will be a room steward. Gosh what a treat! It is called 'Peterborough Treasures' and has some wonderful artefacts, all relating to Peterborough and this area, borrowed from The British Museum, The V&A and Cambridge and Oxford universities. It includes the Water Newton Treasure (British Museum) and Thomas Beckets casket (the V&A) and some wonderful illuminated manuscripts from both Cambridge and Oxford universities. If you are in the area it is well worth a visit. It is free.

Thanks Cariadon. I'm dipping in on here but my mind is mostly elsewhere. My son and grandson are returning to our home tonight from their house hunting holiday in the NE. They spoke to me from Whitley Bay yesterday, they'd been to the refurbished Spanish City and had good time up there. DIL is back at work and they'll be here with us for a few more weeks. If I'd known how this year was going to pan out with builders in too and other events thrown in for good measure, I think I'd have buckled at the knees earlier on...
Hope you all have a good weekend, last of the holiday makers around here now, time for the retirees to come out and play.

Tough times Brue. You'll have to pamper yourself when you have the time. A weekend in a Spa maybe?
Had to change pitch on site today. Why? Because a very inconsiderate member didn't leave any indication that his motorhome was occupying that pitch!
Warden informed Mrs WN when she went to pick up barrier key. Fortunately we had only unpacked awning not erected it otherwise I may not have been pre-disposed to move.
We've come to the Peak District as we expected to have to return in a week or so for a funeral so we cancelled our trip to the South West. Just found out the funeral won't be until the end of September! We're here until next weekend so will start making Plan C!
Having to have an extra glass of something tonight. Head frazzled.

brue, you will look back on this summer in years to come and wonder how ever you coped with it all, but you will I am sure. I hope you can get a trip away soon so that you can relax and gather your thoughts. You will need some quiet time - just you, your OH and your elderly terrier. Take care of yourself.

Brue - Our sincere condolences to you. I can recommend trying to get away for a short break as Milliehull suggests. When my Mum passed away, we had to wait for a post mortem to be carried out, which added a week onto the proceedings. We took the opportunity to stay in the caravan on a local site just to gather our thoughts and put things in perspective. We were close enough to home to make plans for the funeral but far enough away on a quiet site to think. Caravans can be great healers as well as holiday makers. Take care.

We promised ourselves we would revisit Stowe Gardens in the summer and as the weather was good we went today. Found another route round we hadn't done too.Have attached a few photos. When leaving we found an MG club parked up, they had travelled from Bibury. So we had to stop for a look.😉
Brue hope you can take a bit of time out, we have had a couple of horrible years and I do look back and wonder just how we got through them, but we did. Take care ☺

We have been at a wedding in London this weekend. It was timed for midday on Saturday in Twickenham so couldn't risk travelling down on the day so had a two night stay in a local Travelodge, hardly the Ritz but simple and clean and with charming staff. Fortunately we could walk to the Registry Office from the hotel and even had time to wander down through old Twickenham and along the Thames. The reception was in Richmond and we were fortunate that someone gave us a lift. Both Bride and Groom are of South American heritage (different countries) so the food reflected this, and very nice it was too even if at times I was not sure what I was eating!!! Time to leave and we had to get a taxi. Taxi and London strikes fear into my bank account!!! Paul downloaded the Uber app onto my phone and we used that. I rather like it. You get an idea of the fare before the taxi arrives and it is charged automatically to your credit card. Once you have been delivered to your destination you get an e-mail asking you to review the ride and should you wish you can add a tip. I know Uber and the like get a bad press but from the consumer point of view its very convenient. Be interesting to see if it works outside London! We left Twickenham about 10.00am today. The M25 around Heathrow was manic with cars, hardly a lorry in sight! Back home safely in MK now but exhausted!!!

Great photos Helen. We love Stowe and wish it was a bit nearer. Can you take dogs there? We are disappointed to find since our son and DIL have had our lovely Jessie that so many NT properties don't allow dogs in the grounds. We had our annual family August bank holiday outing to Angelsey Abbey last week but as Jessie had to be left at home (no dogs allowed 😦) it was a much shorter visit than usual as they didn't want to leave her for too long.

Millie, NT Stowe is really dog friendly, dogs allowed on leads everywhere except the cafe, but there is a courtyard partly covered where you can sit with dogs. They are even very welcome in the shop, bickies provided.
We plan to visit again in the autumn to see the trees in the autumnal colours.

Sounds like folks are keeping busy 😉
Moved the Hertford C&CC site on Friday, bizarre planning as had to drive through home town so shopped at our shops on the way through, OH refused to call in home as we're on holiday 😂. Huge spacious site, as so often with the other club as the grass kept for tents. Lots of magpies, 7 today supposed to be fortititous according to Google! T hey were scrapping and pinning one to the ground. I've videoed it I presume they were establishing the pecking order - literally.
Walked into the town, quite attractive and market day, yesterday. Managed to secure the next book I'm due to read in the Stuart MacBride Logan McCrae series, a real bonus, as I've others I've found in the charity shops were out of sequence but read in the right order, so more reading whilst we're away 😃.
Another glorious cloudless day which we spent chilling and chatting on site, along with reading!
Mum had her op yesterday, she very emotional according to my brother. Spoken to her a couple of times. She's home with lots of visitors hopefully the cuts will heal quickly. Oneputt sorry to hear you need further treatment, hopefully you'll be called quickly.
Milliehull having a dog when wanting to visit can have drawbacks. Good that she's settling in I didn't like to ask as you'd not mentioned her for a while.

Just finished the first stage of ' Motor Loading ' ready for Scotland with only the frozen food & the large items such as levellers, steps etc which block the passage from front to back for the morning. Then an earlyish night, to think on the Baptismal Service for Toby James
Not seen so many children in a Church for a long time, and nary a tear between them
. Happy times.
Back at the end of the month, so Bieeeee .

Arrived home at 11am van in storage, car unloaded and washing machine loaded. Mowed lawn and other pottering during the afternoon. Still haven’t decided whether to go over there and visit my brother or to stay somewhere over here. Only 3 weeks to make my mind up

ABM have a great time. Looking at the forecast I hope you've packed for all seasons! Looks a bit chilly and wet for this week.
Glad you had a lovely family time at the christening. We have named our new car Toby - as the letters are TBY 😂😂😂. Don't usually name cars but that was too obvious. Motorhome named for shorthand talking! H oma, home away form home, but friends think it Homer😲
Husky did you get to spot your donkey? Enjoy your trip.

After the completion this last week of the work next door that affected us we have been working in our back garden. It's taken us 4 hrs each day this weekend of digging and sieving to get to some kind of order, but it will take a good while longer for us to complete the flower beds ready for planting. I'm already feeling the effects on my back and legs as I'm no longer used to such strenuous work. I'll be glad when we head off again next week!!

Glad you are having such a good time Bakers2. I would have had to call in to collect post and see if there were any answer phone messages whilst in home area. I am so nosey!! Jessie is absolutely fine thanks and we all love her to bits. She is still very lively but only 18 months old. I am pleased that your Mum's op is over and done with and hope she recovers soon. I will let son and DIL know that Stowe is so dog friendly Helen I hope other NT properties follow soon.

Loving it at "Waverley Park" on the U.o.W .Wall to wall sunbeams this week.Sunday lunch at the "Kyings Well" (yes,it's spelt that way ) in Brading ,fabulous local Lamb roast.Driving across the top of the Downs ,i could see the two hotels that were on fire in Sandown seafront raging and filling the Lake valley with thick smoke .It started around 11am in some rubbish next to the hotels apparently.Appliances from all over the Island attended ,also from the mainland ,which 'Red Funnel' brought over at full speed (7 knots) in 35/40 mins.!! No injuries reported so far ,apart from one firefighter treated for smoke inhalation .The buildings roofs an structure have completely demolished .I can't tell you the hotel names just yet,but will update later .

All go here this morning as we are looking after the Gkids. Had a decent drive down to Moffat on Thursday, site almost full. Went to check in, no booking. Appears I didn't book a pitch, I remember checking it out but must have forgot to book it, luckily they had a couple of grass pitches left. Staying at a CL over the weekend and today at Upper Denby, then onto another CL, for Tuesday night (booked) Wednesday we drive down to Dover and stop the night at Blackhorse Farm, also booked. Ferry Thursday morning, after that who knows. New caravan doing good, nice and comfy. Weather also been good, lovely and warm yesterday managed a hour sat outside in peace and quiet before going to see the family. Went for a meal out last night with them, left feeling very full, it was a nice meal and an even nicer pud
