From Coachman Handbook included in MIRO are:
a) LPG
The mass of the recommended gas
storage tank(s) when filled to 100% of the
permissible maximum capacity. A mass
of 10kg per cylinder is assumed and the
number of cylinders is equal to the number
of connections at the regulator.
b) Fluids
The mass of the liquids normally remaining
in the systems:
1. Central heating system – full;
2. Freshwater – any fixed water storage
tank(s) – empty;
3. Toilet system flushing tank – empty;
4. Toilet system holding tank – empty;
5. Essential fluids for the use of any other
items of standard equipment – full.
c) Electricity supply
4kg for the low voltage connection cable.
NOTE: No payload allowance is included
in the MIRO for a full water heater or
fresh water tank(s). It is recommended

I suspect that manufacturers are trying to show the lowest possible weight in order to attract post 1997 licence holders. The youngest holder of a post 97 licence will be 38. Many don’t want the hassle and expense of a test but perhaps don’t fully realise the implications of a poor payload allowance.
Our 2000 4 berth van had a MPTLM of 1320 and a payload of nearly 250kg. It came in under the stated empty weight at the weighbridge but with +/- 20kg accuracy I was never really sure what the weight actually was

Seriously I hope you're all enjoying it, but don't you forget their energy level and how long an hour can last. Takes longer to prepare than play! You're brave paint in the caravan, mine were onky allowed it in the old conservatory or garden.

Probably all down to the weight capacity of the axle and the tyres/wheel rims. Going by what Tammygirl is saying I imagine another 100kgs would be about acceptable. Perhaps someone on Swift Talk could pose the question and see what they say. I know the van is not a Swift but it might give an insight into why weight allowances are so low.

Lovely sunny day here but boy was it chilly overnight, time for the thicker duvet me thinks.

ET, thanks for posting the info, I can grab back a few kilos of what we can now put in but I suspect we will still be near the max by the time we leave. At least some of the stuff will weigh less as the holiday progresses.
JayEss, that's a good personal allowance you have and I suspect we had similar on our last caravan as I don't ever remember struggling, the only thing we had a problem with initially was insufficient weight on the tow ball. Had to move some of the stuff from the rear beds to the front beds.

I hope the weather dried up for you and the twins OP and you were able to get out. We used to take board games, card games etc suitable for little ones when our grandchildren were young. OH has got them interested in Pontoon as they have got older 😲. They love it. We play for buttons or matchsticks.
I have joined a health club this week as I decided I needed to get back into swimming so off I went for my swim etc first thing. I was finishing just as the ladies were arriving for their aquarobics class. Some had full make up on and hair beautifully blow dried 😲 I wonder what they looked like after they had been in the pool 😂

Several of my friends go swimming Millie and enjoy it, so hope you do too.
I have been catching up on life today after several painful weeks watching my Mum become increasingly ill. She is no longer suffering and I no longer have my Mum but she is at peace. My sister and I have a lot to do but this was the first day I have had more time to myself. Even looking in on here has been therapeutic....if that is the word?!
I even noticed the sunshine today and got outside for a while.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your Mum brue. Such a difficult time for you all. As my MIL's lovely GP said when we lost her at the age of 95 'the longer you have them the more difficult the loss'' so very true. OH and I send you our prayers and best wishes. Take care of yourself and enjoy the sunshine.

Husky, have a great trip away, you deserve a break.
We are just about ready for our trip to start tomorrow, just the bikes to load and the fridge stuff. No big rush in the morning as we are only going as far as Moffat, then onto West Yorkshire to see our youngest and his family.
Should have had the boiler serviced today, booked it April. Got a phone call 12.30, sorry the engineer has had van trouble, he's broken down, can't make it today how about next week. Nope, how about 2 months time
so re-booked end of October, guess we now know when we are coming back 0 -

We have decided to take advantage of our HHA membership today and visit Belvoir Castle. It featured on Phil Spencer's Stately Homes programme recently and looked really interesting. In fact our hairdresser's sister was on it as she is a room guide and they interviewed her. I hope everyone has a good day and happy and safe travels for all those 'on the road'.

Did a short "Browsing Course" on here yesterday whilst my GDSF washing was under way but came away saddened by what I read. My regular parting comment of "play nicely" has been a waste of typing time it seems. I think I'll now go and Clean & Polish the 'van to see if I cheer up at all and consider my future on CT.

After a very wet day yesterday, we finally went for a walk about 5pm resovior is well down even after heavy rain yesterday and moist August. Beautifully sunny here now, so breakfasted outside and are still enjoying sitting 😉

Sorry to hear about the loss of your mum Brue.
TG I am a wee bit jealous we have not been away in the caravan for 3 weeks now due to visitors, family gatherings ect. Hoping to get away next weekend and then we have a long weekend in the lakes arranged for the end of September and then a 9 night trip to Yorkshire booked for October so something to look forward to.
