Hi, I would be grateful for any suggestions of a touring caravan route from wakefield to buxton caravan site. I've read caravan club suggestions off at junc 37 into A628, or is the M1around chesterfield a better route.

Chesterfield seems a long way round to me.

A628 from M1 will be ok. I have always found the directions in the handbook to be ok

Another vote for Woodhead/A628. Easy and mostly scenic route

The A628 is clogged with lorries, especially at peak times. It is still the best route for you. It's a regular route for me when going east.

The Chesterfield route would be easier except for the centre of Chesterfield where I find the density of converging roads and traffic means it is easy to get into the wrong lane. It is also a long way around.

In my experience, the easiest route is M62/M60 and off at Stockport but I know some tuggers do not like the thought of going into Stockport so probably not best for you.
