False information about Chatsworth site
In September's magazine feature about Chatsworth Club site is the statement
"The site is a 15-minute walk from the charming market town of Bakewell".
In reality, the shortest walking route is approximately 3 miles.
The 2017/18 Sites Directory gives the distance to Bakewell as being 4 miles. (By the way, that book states that Bakewell train station is 4.5 miles away but fails to mention that the station closed to trains in 1968!)
Whoever wrote the magazine article also stated "the Monsal, Tissington and High Peak Trails pass close to the Club site". I'm not sure of his/her definition of "close" as the nearest of the three trails is at Bakewell.
I know that we can all make mistakes but wouldn't expect such glaring errors. If the writer of the article meant "the site is a 15-minute drive from Bakewell" he/she should have been picked up the error on reading through the article before submitting it. Equally, it should have been picked up at the proof reading!

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I read the article and thought it seemed a quicker walk into Bakewell than I would have expected. I we haven't used the site but did stay in a cottage in the heart of Bakewell with friends several years ago. We visited Chatsworth and Monsail but recall driving to both rather than walking. As for the train station oversight 😲 motorhomers often choose sites based on public transport links - I wouldn't expect to check club handbook info!

I wondered at first whether they meant Baslow which is probably right time wise but under no stretch of the imagination is it a Market Town!!!

I sent an e-mail to the magazine this afternoon and suggested a correction in October's magazine.
Within half an hour I had a reply from Stephen Hollis (The Digital Magazine Executive!) apologizing for the error and agreeing that it should have been picked up.
He did not mention a correction but stated that he would pass on information about the Train Station having been closed for 50 years to the necessary person!
