PRIMA Classic Canopy Air Awning

We will want you to trial the awning on your next trip away and let us know your feedback. What are the top three pros of the awning and are there any cons? Ease of putting up the awning? Quality of materials? Style (look and feel) and any further feedback you have. We would also love to see pictures of you using and enjoying the awning.

If this sounds like something you would be happy to take part in we will arrange for the awning to be delivered to you and picked up after your stay. Please can you either post below or email communitymanager@camc.com if you are interested with information on why you feel you would make a good awning tester, if you would be happy to write about testing the awning on a personal blog and/or Club Together and where you will test the awning – it can be on a Club Site, CL Site or overseas.

Many thanks and we look forward to hearing from you.

not quite as grand as our previous poster but, we are doing a 4 night trip to Normanshurst site at the end of September.

    Thanks

    Rowena.

This is a great idea but you should make members aware that they might not be able to erect and use the super size awnings on some club sites. I refer to Awning Warning on page 18 of the September magazine.frown

How easy is it to erect? I would have to do it on my own for my Motorhome. I have been looking for something

    Hi artyboo,

Prima have advised it is certainly possible to put up alone, but it is a lot more challenging. If you have a wind out box awning (from Fiamma or Thule), this can be wound down, the awning installed at head height, and then wound back up which makes things easier. Threading the awning onto the vehicle is the only challenging part of the install and the pitch, inflation and finishing can easily be done by one person.

I hope this information helps and let me know if you would be interested in testing. smile

I would certainly be interested in trying one out. I would need to do it single handedly so I am thinking this might be a good test.

i would also have to consider the weight, both for ‘payload’ and whether is could lift it easily enough on my own.

i am heading to the Dordogne next week so that would be the perfect opportunity.

Hi Rowena.  We would be interested in trying one.  We are currently looking to purchase an air awning.  We bought a new caravan last year - Challenger 580 but with 2 teenage kids as well,  we need a larger awning than our current Kampa 260 pole as need more living space as they get older and bigger!

I would be particularly interested in one of the larger widths and the wider depth is particularly attractive to try so if you still need anyone then let us know.  We are away for a week in October so it would get a good trial

artyboo - it is my understanding that air awnings are hard to manage solo being much heavier than the old fashioned ones.  I treated myself to a canopy this year which was lovely two sides but no front - so not for winter.  I have used the Fiamma but now can't roll it up on my own as the plastic seems to have got tougher with age - and my fingers weaker!

But if you apply to test one you could find out!  And let us know!

Hi Pippah, too late now anyway. I am on my way 🤪. Here are Black horse farm before the ferry tomorrow.

I must admit that I can manage my Fiamma Ultra light privacy room so it will have to do.

    MDD10,

we have recently bought a Kampa 400 air awning.  We are really pleased with it.

it is really solid when up and we also bought the Gale pump to blow it up, you can set the pressure, so it stops when it is fully up.

the only thing we found is that it is much heavier than the Kampa pole 390 that we had.

    hope this helps.

I have a Kampa 260 air awning once you have it in the awning Chanel it goes up in minutes. And when taking down so long as you fold it up properly it fits in the bag a breeze, also good for some weight over the axle in caravan. I have also emailed the club regarding the Prima air awning test.

Hi Lynn. Thanks for the recommendation.  I have had a look at the Kampa 360 Pro Plus but after your post it highlighted the issue about the Prima awnings of having a greater depth.  I will have a look at the 400.  I’m not in a rush as we only have the October outing left for the remainder of the year so I. Hoping I get a chance to trial one of these

Kampa also make one which is a full 3m deep - the 390 Grande.  We replaced our Air Pro 390 with the 390 Grande a couple of months ago and it's amazing how much difference that extra half metre makes. The revised roof shape on the new ones also gives a much greater feeling of space inside.
