Just a point regarding the high prices which I agree are high for the glamping units .
At Coniston now and both pods are taken, both Airstreams are taken and half of the glamping pods have cars outside them. So while expensive they are being taken up.

Which rather suggests they have been priced in line with market forces.

True and it would tell us a lot if the units weren't let.

Doubtless they are priced in line with market forces, but that really isn’t the point. CAMC membership includes an annual subscription for its facility to meet the requirements of a specific group of leisure tourists, namely caravan and motorhome users, does “our club” really need to diversify into non leisure vehicle accommodation? Did Homebase really need to be improved to a point where it’s value was just £1 .Come along, if and when market demands deviate from traditional CAMC facilities, then it could well be time for a change. But the minor cost of glamping pods can hardly be viewed as inspired future proofing when so many members complain of poor current availability. A far more pressing concern might be limited site availability for leisure vehicles due to weekend only bookings.

Come along?
We're all entitled to our opinions, Jenny.

Homebase?😂😂, let’s hope an Australian company don’t buy out C&MC to create an ‘Australia lite’ experience. . . .Then C&MC may be worth just £1, until then it’s a case of evolve or die. Old attitudes are like all old things-they die👍🏻

Modern ideas and diversity is what keeps a business alive. Recognising that people enjoy the campsite experience in so many different ways and catering for those needs is the secret for success for the leisure companies. The old fashioned idea of " we've always done it this way and are not going to change" has died out. So should the snobby attitude of looking down on people who enjoy camping in less expensive camping equipment.
The future is to be "All inclusive"

But K’s right for once even though he’s written it in his own inimitable style. 😄

Yes, but change must reflect the needs and future needs of the majority of us members. I guess knowing what that future membership will look like is key to the possible changes which should be being considered now.
Beware changes though which are not future proof! We should also heed the fact that some have advocated changes which only really reflect the 'traditional' ways of other providers in the leisure industry. Again, folk tend only to suggest change based on what is advantageous to them in the here and now!

both airsteams still in use, and again lots of the glamping pods have cars outside, and it is certainly past the BH.
Noticed that a van in our pitching area, like us also have family/friends using one of them.

If any one saw Summer Country file at 0915 BBC 1 there was bit about how some farms in Cornwall have now gone over to Camping parks and the "farmer" who was interviewed has just installed some "glamping tents" to capture a growing trend

The only question I have is 'What is the annual level of occupation as against the club's site (apart from those units.)?
That is to say do they pay their way or are pitches more profitable?
I guess there will not be an official answer to that?

They are only a year on the go so far, but must be popular as Club is rolling out more. Yellowcraig would be a good location, hint, hint!

good question, they are guaranteed income for the club and they do see to be popular as all are taken up and 'ballots' done for the over demand.

It seems to me that these units are placed on sites on previous under utilised space which I suspect would not be easily converted to pitches. The original Pods I saw at Abbey Wood this was clearly the case. I suspect you won't get financial information, except in general terms, because its commercially confidential.

yes sorry was thinking about seasonal there, in the cold light of day pretty daft sorry!
I'll put it down to too much wine last night in the van
The airstream and glamping pods which sleep 4 and are in effect SP are about 3 to 4 fours the cost per night of a service pitch and can be used all through the year, the site here is open all year so could be a 'nice little earner' for the club if used well.

Just returned from a south coast site that had converted several pitches to clamping pods. The pods over the bank holiday were at full occupancy as was the rest of the site with tents, caravans and motorhomes. My question really intended to asked what the annual occupancy rates of Pods to Pitches was? As well as factoring in income against lost pitch revenue.
