The 3 at At Alderstead Heath don't seem to be occupied that often from my observations when in and out of the storage area. I was there on Friday dropping my caravan off after collecting it from the dealers and only one Pod was occupied. Seem expensive to rent to me ?

The "glamping"tents at c&cc site a Sandringham do not seem to have much use when we have walked post from the cc site

Cheers, Milo. I was starting to think I’d imagined that last sentence.

Priced a week for two at a boutique hotel near Malaga B&B airport car parking, travel insurance and flights. £1,200. Or I could stay at Moreton in Marsh for a week for £740 and no breakfast. Decisions: Decisions??

Sounds very reasonable to me Kev155.------ Although there will be some of the oldies, who are uncomfortable with anything that resembles change, who might disagree.--- IMO Diversity and all inclusiveness is the sign of a good Leisure Company.

Does that mean you intend to become a Club member again then Kcool

Look forward to seeing you out and about on club sites wink

That still doesn’t explain why we are being fooled. Business needs to change or suffer, all I see is the camc doing just that, changing tweaking thwarted it operates to stay up with and or in front of the competition.

We are fooled if we are led to believe that the age demographic on CC caravan sites is greatly different from those on non CC sites offering similar provisions or if we think that offering pods at £200 a night is going to alter those demographics.

I am not sure who is being fooled? Of course the Club needs to move with the times. Its not inconceivable that at some point in the future these Pods and their like might end up subsidising touring pitches depending on the suitability of future vehicles to either be able to tow a caravan or vans being converted to motorhomes.

I don’t believe anyone has said there is is a difference in the age demographics between camc and non camc, what I said was the club needs to start attracting younger clientele as well, if we don’t then the average age will keep increasing until we have very few members!

Some talk about caravanning 40 odd years ago, it’s not comparable, we no longer have gas lights or a foot pump for a cold water only system, we have hot and cold water, electric for lighting and heating great cooking facilities, showers, grade 3 insulation etc in the modern vans, it really isn’t the same as 40 years ago and never will be.

We have diversified with what we tow or drive all the club is doing is trying different stuff to keep and attract a different customer base, I for one see nothing wrong with that. I appreciate others might not like it but that’s life, no fooling involved from where I’m sitting.

Proper Glamping Pods then. Not the wooden hut types. Friends of ours are off up to Coniston Park next month, they love them. Illness has enforced restricted touring outfit usage. The Club knows what it is doing in terms of broadening its appeal beyond pitches for white boxes, I can see us trying one at some point when we are dog free. Perhaps that's their USP.............

If we were having a friend/fam8ly meet we would choose a site with pods on them.

People are fooling themselves if they think think that there are not already as great a proportion of younger people using CC sites as there are on non-CC sites that provide the same facility. At the present the club's raison d'être id to provide for caravanners and motorhomers trailer tents etc. At the present time and the present facilities and costs such items I feel will add little to the CC. Others may well feel otherwise

I have myself considered a 3 day break in one on a C&CC site in the lakes. It would not be a big part of any holiday usage for us as carravanners or if we were non caravanners.

So do I! We may have a short hiatus so that we can do a few big special holidays, but I doubt it will be a long one! We currently have a 12 year old, doing very well, pottering along nicely, and an eight and half year old, riddled with arthritis etc.... but still having a ball! We are all off to enjoy a big cottage next month. Perhaps the Club might designate at least one pod per location pet friendly, we shall have to see! Good that none members can holiday not far away though.

Maybe, Maybe not.----- If an area I want to tour only has one suitable site and that happens to be  a CL or CMC site , I don't mind paying the £51 to use that Site or CL.  I like the idea of Glamping as well, but we enjoy holidays with our dog and Glamping units tend to be dog free.

Will the pod users have to be Club members?.

All sites with pods and other accommodation are non member sites, but if you are a member you will get 10% off.

I could be wrong but I think I read somewhere that the Pod's and Yurts are a joint venture with another leisure company ?

I think, not sure, but the ones at Alderstaed Heath have another company's Logo on them, be it very discrete.

Just another thought, who will be responsible for cleaning these Pods and supplying clean bed linen? Surely not the wardens!

Not sure how to phrase my reply 😉, but that bit of your contract that says "any other duties". Along with the words while we assess the situation.

If you were looking for work would you contemplate unknown hours unknown days as I expect they'll only want cleaning after use and possibly a freshen an new linen, assuming that's supplied?, so possibly a zero hours contract. That'd be part of the selling for the above I don't doubt!

We've used the site a few times, we loved it, but last time we went a couple of years back we felt it wasn't as nice. Locality is great but site tired.

I have to say that if I was considering glamping with the one if8 the clubs I'd choose the other club for the yurt/tent over a wooden pod. These were certainly well used when we were at Sandringham C&CC.

Why not. It is added income for their sites. Pride in the job of making the sites a great place to spend a holiday should be paramount.
