Hi newby question.  When you're on a hard standing pitch do you park caravan right to the edge of the grass so as awning would be on the grass and tow vehicle can park opposite side of van on hard standing.

Or have the whole outfit on the hard standing and park tow vehicle elsewhere.

Thank you.

Most CC have acres of gravel on the hard standing with a peg that you park the rear offside of the caravan to, which leaves gravel on either side that you pitch your awning on & park your car on.

Or the front nearside corner to the peg. Whichever way you choose, it’s the peg that determines where you park.

At Tewkesbury CAMC site, they also have what the Club called Multi-Surface Pitches.  These are where the Caravan is pitched on the hardstanding and the awning is pitched on the grass. However, at certain times of the year, when grass pitches are out of use, the hardstanding can be used as a non-awning type pitch only.  I dont know what happens to the car.  It doesn't tell you on the website, unless I've missed somewhere.  Probably needs someone to post who has used them.

If you've been on the renovated Tewksbury site or read the recent reviews, you wouldn't want to go there. However, caravans are supposed to park well over to the right-hand edge of the paved area (looking from the front and assuming the entrance door is on the nearside) and the awning should be erected on the grass. Unfortunately, much of the grass is rutted and your ground sheet and step will be very uneven - in some cases downright dangerous. Cars should then be parked on the left-hand side of the paved area.

We have just returned from Tewksbury and the "muli purpose" pitches  have room on the grass to erect an awning and still maintain spacing, they are all Hardstands made of Block paving,  the car and caravan use the block paving area ,,then if the grass is too wet, they can then be used as non awning pitches, there are also numerous other block paved pitches, that are only non awning, most of the serviced pitches are "cotswold" stone chippings hardstands as they usually are above the normal flood areas ,there are still numerous grass awning and non awning pitches
