we have met one or two members where it would not surprise us if they came from the 'them and us' background - not caravans v. m/homes, but new(-ish) outfits v. mature ones.

LT, there are plenty of those sort of people about so why should there be any difference in the CC. Beat just to ignore them, although that's what they probably do with regards to us.

When a swanky caravan or m/home pitches nearby, and the occupants display an aloof 'we don't want to speak to you' attitude, my wife will sometimes say something along the lines of, "Bet they bought that out of their inheritance, and are really nobody special."  It makes me laugh but, on the law of averages, sometimes she could be right.

The only time it has really been apparent was many years ago when we pitched at Blackpool as a treat for the children. There was a major golf tournament on at Royal Lytham, and one or two of the golf followers certainly thought they were above the rest of us.

Ouch! Wish you hadn't mentioned that.  Two or three years ago we went to a dinner-dance with our daughter and S-I-L.  Dancing with this young woman, she asked what my hobbies were.  I said mainly caravanning, and she asked if I played golf.    "Oh no", I said, "golfers are a bit snobby - like some caravan Club members can be."  Our dance ended prematurely - it turned out her husband was a golf tutor at the local golf club.  And our S-I-L one off his pupils.  Our daughter had noticed our dance had ended early, and when I told her of the conversation she was horrified.

Now, if anyone would like a couple of big feet to hold down that flapping groundsheet................!

I am not surprised your dance ended early after insulting the poor young lady, you were lucky you didn't get a slap around the chops, then it would have been pistols at dawnsmile

I don’t think so.  As  Cyberyacht posts with humour, wit and intelligence.  I’m sure that not even Kennine would include him as part of the famous 5.

I have never experienced a 'them and us' vehicle attitude on any site, both here and abroad. Now 'General Chat' on this forum may fall into that category.foot-in-mouth
