Understood it was being operated, for the interim period, as before. I know the site well having stayed before and also visiting friends with a static on site next door.....and as a family run site there was always someone around in the office to administer advance bookings. In any case the low season operates from 1st March....just a week away, should be able to book before then..
NB..Beware the potato picking season...those are McCains fields up to the hedges..some very large, noisy machines live there !!!

At least it's just fields. In 2016 we stayed at Chalons-en-Champagne on the way home from Italy and France. Fortunately the site was on the opposite side of town to the McCain's factory. If you like the smell of chips you really must visit!!!! 😀😀

Been to this area many times using the West Ayton site so may try this one next year. I think I would like to see any changes that are made when it becomes a fully fledged CC&MH site, before I go, as they are leaving well alone for this year. I wonder if the club will retain the Tenting area or convert it to Caravan/ Motorhome use and will the site also retain its opening/closing dates?

Update on my last post re booking at Cayton village...Club staff answered phone on Monday 26 Feb and duly processed my booking which included taking a £50 deposit. A full descriptive invoice arrived minutes later via email setting out the 7 night net pitch cost of £134.19 plus vat @ 20% but omitted the OAP discount of £15 which is advertised on the web site...as is 'dogs go free'.
Not sure if the discount is applied at net or gross cost. I shall mention the omission at check in when i pay the balance..

Ah but not all pitches have access to WiFi it's only available in the Laurels serviced pitches area and the majority of that is taken by existing seasonal pitches. So having taken out 12 months WiFi subscription is frustrating when you cannot connect.
All roads are gravel, facilities are definitely not up to club standard (toilets, showers etc). So a lot of investment required over the coming years. Entry gates work on ANPR and are very hit or miss whether you can get in or out. Rather frustrating at times going back and forth at the barrier hoping the ANPR will read your car reg..

Presumably you took the 12 months out while on another site. To be fair to the CC the web page does not claim that there is any universal WiFi and in regard to the service pitches states:-
Super pitches at Cayton Village offer different facilities to other Club Sites. They have waste and water services, free private Wi-Fi and a TV booster point, however they are not hedged and there is no chemical waste point on the pitch.
If WiFi is important, it is always worth checking the small print and perhaps ringing the wardens re the availability of 4G.

We have stayed a couple of times on this site. Very friendly owners and you were given an escort to your pitch and given help to site your van if you needed it. The site was a mixture of caravans and tents.
The newest part of the site was called " the laurels " These were all hard standing set in rows but were not very level and the drainage was terrible after heavy rain. There is a large clean wash block at the top looking down over the site.
Overall a good site but did have a few shabby seasonal caravans. Would be interesting to see if the Caravan club changes the site to fit in with their different way of doing things.
