Site Redevelopments reopening this summer
In 2017, we invested £13m in Club sites, and in 2018 we are spending even more: a total of £14m which includes £3m on repairs and maintenance and £11m on renovations and redevelopments.
This summer the final three redeveloped sites will re-open following extensive investments.
Troutbeck Head will be open from 3 August – two weeks earlier than planned and just in time for the summer months. The redevelopment work includes:
- Newly refurbished washroom facilities
- Brand-new all weather pitches
- New-style open grate motorvan waste point, for easy drive over waste disposal and no heavy drain cover to lift

I do hope that the
New-style open grate motorvan waste point, for easy drive over waste disposal and no heavy drain cover to lift!
Are positioned for motorhomes to not cause an obstructing the roadways and do allow emptying from either side. It isn't always the case with improvements 😉

Well, all I can say is that all the new styled motorhome waste points I have used have been excellent and would not impede other units passing by. Have you seen others where this is not the case?
With regard to Rowena's post it is really good news to see more sites with proper emptying facilities for motorhomes. Last week we stayed at two sites, Hebden Bridge with a new style open grid, excellent. Chirk the old style awful!!!

Roll on the day when all the MHSPs have been converted. I wonder how many bad backs the club is responsible for due to the lifting of heavy covers?

It would be useful, seeing it opens on the 3rd August, if the club could get a site plan up and running for Buxton. It would be nice to know where the service pitches are located.
I assume the 10 new services pitches are where the play area used to be? As it says the site no longer has one. Doing away with the play area seems rather strange.

I've just heard from a member on site that Lady Margaret's Park refurbishment of facilities block is not now to take place as planned next year.
Could Rowena perhaps enquire if this is correct and, if so, why not as, even though the site staff do a wonderful job in keeping it all spotless, it's so dated and the water pressure is abysmal.

We were there last weekend. Whilst we used our own facilities I could see the toilet block needed a refurbishment as does the motorhome waste point but I think that will actually need to be moved.

are there any upto date photos as the site redevelopment page is still showing knaresbrough redevelopment from last year i am booked on beechwood 21 sept and over the new year and would like to see how it looks before i go there has been no updates on the website with photos like knaresbrough site it must not be as important as building a new bar. people would like o see what is happening when sites have been shut for nearly 9 months for redevelopment to see what has changed and whether even to visit the site
also what sites will be getting redeveloped next year and closed for a long time?

The York site looks a very popular site. Not a weekend to be had for the next year. This is a shame really as plenty of in the week dates if you don't want to take an awning.
in my opinion; The club should seriously consider making this site minimum stay a week at a time to ensure that everybody gets a chance to book.

well, so I would expect a reduction in my membership fee? Why are the long stayers given preferential treatment to the weekenders? Is that fair
And why do you think that would help? Would that make the site suddenly full all the time? It is less full during the week perhaps due people (I am told) still work and have weekends off?
Would these people who could now take all the weekends or will there now be space at weekends not being used? I am not sure that have a week stay minimum would help income as well.
The simple fact is that York is a popular site and the fairest thing is what we have now you have to book early.

I think you need to look again Colin Dav. Beechwood Grange has loads of free pitches, weeks on end even in July and August. You need to let the screen update!
And, there are lots of pitches at Rowntree Park as well through July and August, I am guessing it’s getting a tad expensive there for most!
Not quite sure how useful a dog wash is at Beechwood Grange. The dog walking by the site is none existent.

Book early to get what you want and don’t discriminate against those who work during the week is my view.
Anyway, What has this to do with last year's site refurbishments?🤔

Ah, I’ve got it. Colin has posted in the wrong thread. There’s one running, albeit a bit outdated now, about a cancellation at Rowntree.

This related to lady Margaret's park, Chirk. Is there any news on this? We were there a couple of weeks ago and asked the wardens about it; they weren't aware of any redevelopment. However, prices for LMP only go up to the end of September, yet it's an all year site.
So, any updates please?
Moderator Edit:
I've 'reported' this in the hope of getting the promised update.

Hi everyone,
Apologies for the delay in reply.
The Club are continuously reviewing and planning ahead for the sites that need to be redeveloped, and Lady Margaret’s Park is on the programme for development but it is unlikely to be during the winter of 2019/2020. When we can be certain that development will be going ahead, we will ensure members are advised through our redevelopments section of the website accordingly. In the meantime, we will be releasing inventory for the latter end of 2019 within the next few days.

Thanks Rowena. At least we know it's not on the programme for this year.
