After the scandal of their diesel engine emissions debacle.   ---- It's now been reported that they have been found to be using Cadmium in many of their electric and hybrid cars between 2013 and 2018.     WV found that there was a supplier using cadmium in some of the parts, this was a deviation from specification.

    They found this through their quality procedures.

    They informed the authorities at the earliest opportunity.

    You have implied that they have been found using cadmium, this is not factual, they found a supplier using cadmium and took a very responsible route to resolution.

    Your assertion that they have something wrong is not correct.

    You're mistaken JVB,   I am definitely  not one of the five " Usual Suspects" , you need to look closer to home.  --- Happy to help .smile

    People can blame the sub contractor all they like but at the end of the day it’s still VW’s responsibility.  Obviously their QA/QC is sadly lacking, after all it only took 5 years to discoversurprised 

    i wonder how many other car manufacturers are using the same/similar parts

    A bit unfair really.  The battery supplier would have given specification details that are likely to have simply omitted admission of the use of cadmium.  I would not think any manufacturer goes to the trouble of dissecting all the major components that are sourced from their suppliers.  Hindsight is a marvellous thing for pointing the finger.  Volkswagen, like all large volume manufacturers, have to trust their suppliers, a trust which passes down to their own buying department.

    If you religiously recycled all you waste, and then discovered that the packaging from one source, although claiming to be recyclable, was in fact a serious hazard to health, would you expect to be pilloried for it?
