It's similar to the Kendal site, you can do the river walk to town and the site gives details of taxis which are happy to transport you (and your dog) back.

We were there two years ago, I seem to remember an open area on one part of the site, has that been filled with pitches?

It's a while since we have stayed there so my memory is perhaps flawed. The play area was on the lower section of the site. I think in the area where there is now 10 service pitches. However, wether it is these or other pitches, there is now very little open space shown on the site plan. There seems to be 118 hardstanding touring pitches and 5 tent now, compared to 112 HS, 3 grass and 2 tent before.

Although pitch numbers now go to 127, as there are 4 pitch numbers missing, so I assume the spacing has been opened up a bit. I have no idea why they did not renumber the pitches sequentially.

We have found that any non facility sites club or cls will attract children who are with responsible parents who tend to be involved with them, rather than on sites with play areas where "parents" just expect their sprogs to leave them alone and find "others"undecided

Just  for info, walk downhill to Buxton and phone the speacil deal taxi to bring you from anywhere in town to the site entrance for £5. Well that was the 2017 deal and good value, ask the Wardens for details
