Can anybody advise what’s happening reference to rock throwing by kids.

One member at least has had damage done to Motorhome and was lucky he was out when it happened.

I was looking to book but have now been well put off.

Can someone from the club advise exactly what the situation is please.

I doubt there is any point asking on CT. Or even contacting HO. Far better to give the site a call and talk to the wardens.

I suppose given its location down in the old quarry with local kids on holiday its not surprising theyve discovered a new game!

We stopped using Cherry Hinton in favour of the C&CC site in Great Shelford as its brighter and not so crowded.

We gave up Cherry Hinton too - in our case for Highfield Farm at Comberton on the other side of the city - not a CL as you might think but a well established site owned and managed by a most obliging family.

Some pictures of the C&CC site here http://www.davidklyne.co.uk/cambridge_ccc_site.html The advantage of both the C&CC site and the CMC site is the closeness of bus stops for visiting the City.

I have stayed there 3 times over the past 2 years, I can only think that the part of the site that runs parallel with the road is where that could happen.  If you have concerns pitch on the opposite side (the flat area opposite the toilet block). I wouldn't let it put me off and will return in the future.  Theres not a lot there but its a nice peaceful site with shops, takeaways and 2 pubs within easy walking distance and you also have the chalk pit and nature reserve just across the road to walk dogs if you have them.

Just a thought, is it definitely children throwing stuff or is it lumps of Chalk falling from the quarry wall on that side of the site due to the extreme hot weather we have just had ?

I agree with Stevel,we have used Cherry Hinton only 50 miles from home(not during school holidays )on several occasions, and not experienced or heard of the said "problem" but a call to the site should advise if it is an on going event or whether it was a one off

I made the decision not to use Cherry Hinton as I am no loner happy with visibility on exit, When next we are in the area will probably use C&CC

The C and CC site is lovely but take care when approaching. A sign warns of its approach and then one says 100 yds. Turn on this one, the site is 100 yds down that road. Also remember it closes for winter.

We've been using Cherry Hinton for about ten years and visited about the same number of times. Never had a problem, even the entrance, although a tad challenging is really not a problem if you are patient and wait for that safe oportunity for ingress/exit.  It may just be that it is easier for an experienced motorhomer than for some with a car and a caravan in tow.

I find it harder with substandard visibility now that I have just the one working eye. Entry not a problem .......... just the exit

I will second what ET recommends.

A lovely site and for those who are members they are also an ACSI site.

I understand, my sight too is failing in one eye and I have to take that additional time and effort to ensure safety to self and others. I've now lost depth and 3D perception but the distance vision is absolutely fine, I don't wear glasses as they would not help my condition. However, every drive I now make,  be it to my local shops or new territory now requires me to be that little bit extra cautious. I will not be hurried. I just wish some other road users would appreciated those possible needs of others on the road, I'm not a danger but I do need a few seconds more at that acceptable and reasonable speed to make adjustments to my driving.
