    Thanks for the update, Maddie.

Just a couple of small points..... shouldn't The Harp Inn be listed under Letterston rather than Haverfordwest, and Meadow Cottage be under Wincanton rather than Yoevil?

Maddie despite taking over an existing CL that has been here for years the CAMC decided to treat us as a new site.  You advertised on the website that we were not taking bookings (without our knowledge) which has caused a few no shows and loss of income as customers thought it had closed.  We have not to our knowledge been featured as 'a new CL'  are we going to benefit from any promotional help at all?  What is the agreed official level of promotion for site like ours?  https://www.facebook.com/BreakwaterCaravanPark

I don’t think Morven View is new, is it?

The listing shows 2016 prices. I’m confused.

    And with reviews from 2014?

I seem to remember but correct me if I'm wrong, someone from the club recently said CLs would no longer be listed on the club website until they had at least one photo on their listing.  Most of the above don't have any photos.  This really isn't going any way towards the club supporting new CLs. It's like putting them out there half dressed.  Support them properly by insisting they provide a photo themselves or from the inspector who does the final inspection then at least they'll have a fighting chance of succeeding!

Lack of a photo really puts me off, Nicola, as does failure to respond to emails or messages left on an ans machine. I know CL owners are busy people but sometimes it’s days before a response is forthcoming, if one comes at all.

Both Morven View and Carlton Grange (from last month's list) are old CLs that had closed and have reopened with new owners, as far as I can see,

That could explain it, Nellie. I think you stayed at Morven View last year, didn’t you? I remember spotting the signs on the way to and from Gills Bay.

C&CC list 3 types of changes to CSs - closed, new and amendments. They would have shown the site as having new owners in the list of amendments which would do away with confusion.

Did you not take up this matter directly with the CL department at HO? They are the ones you should be approaching surely.

Why not post a notice in the CL Late Availability section or add a new post of your own stating that you are up and running, other CL owners seem to get a good response from their posts that way

It wasn't Morven View we stopped at, it was Firth View, which overlooks the Pentland Firth. Morven View is about 4 miles from the coast heading south from Castletown to Wick.

Ah, my mistake. The location of Thurso shown for Morven View is a little confusing. undecided

Mea Culpa - Haven't kept up to date with new and old listings since we returned from abroad at the end of June, so I was pleased to see that the club has decided to allow listing of closed sites. Thank you for your input Maddie in bringing this about and also for being more pro-active than most of your colleagues. It is appreciated.

I think that it has to do with the post code. I would think that it's midway between Thurso & Wick. There's no heading for Wick in the site Directory either.

It's all well and good WN, and a lot more than we were getting before, but there's still no sign of them posting the reasons for closure, as they used to do in En Route, which would be of a great help.

    Hi Tinwheeler,

Morven View had closed earlier in the year and now reopened - it is still run by the existing owners.

    Thanks

    Hi Nellie

Thank you for your message, you were correct about Meadow Cottage, I have amended. I believe The Harp Inn is meant to be in Haverfordwest. It is a different department who identifies the Listing town so I will double check with them and get back to you.

    Thanks

     Hi BreakwaterCL

I have looked into this and can see you have had an email from Head Office regarding this. I hope this has helped and please feel free to respond to the email if you have any other questions.

Your CL site will be published in the October Magazine as a Change of Certificate Holder.

    Thanks

    Maddie

    Hi Nellie

The Harp Inn should be under the listing town Letterston and the amendments will be made to the website shortly. Thank you for highlighting this error.

    Thanks

    Thanks for the list Maddie.

It would appear that at least one of them has the wrong/misleading information on the CC's web listing......Metcalfe House is showing to be priced from £12 when it should read £15 pn. This has been confirmed by the site onwer in an e-mail to myself.

I find it strange that many of the new CLs are starting their pricing at the same price...£15 pn. Is this following a directive from HO?

    Hi Nellie,

Thank you for bringing the price at Metcalfe House to my attention I shall get this looked into.

We have no influence over what the CL sites charge per night. We recommend not pricing themselves over that of their local competition but the CL owner has final say as it is their own business.

The CL Owner also needs to take into consideration the costs of running CLs, which are increasing. Some of the costs cited by owners are PL Insurance, electric testing and upkeep of bollards, water testing (if not on mains), repairing site damage, Club membership, service and petrol for mower, waste collection services, annual septic tank emptying all against limited income from 5 pitches and, in most cases, great value pricing per night.

    Thanks

    Maddie

    Nellie,

I think you will find it says 'from £12.00' for Metcalfe House because it says if you stay 4 nights or more it's £13.00 per night.

    Maddie,

That is a great explanation of some of the costs involved in running a CL...thank you.  One major one which you've missed off however is the tax man....we do have to pay tax on the income from our CLs.

Nicola, I sent an e-mail to the site owner pointing out that although it was saying a price from £12 pn it was inferring a discount of £13 pn if one stayed 4 nights or more, as one would think that the longer one stopped the less one might expect to pay not more. This is the reply I received....

"Thanks for advising us. Unfortunately, it has been published incorrectly. It should state from £15 a night and from £13 a night for 4 or more nights!"

So I was correct in stating that the information published on the CC's CL web site was incorrect.

Hi Maddie, I've just been going through the list of updates for September, and there appears to be a couple of anomolies.

New CLs.....Lowland CL, Lodden, Norfolk is not coming up at all in the search either by clicking on the link in your post or by going to Lodden in the web search facility.

Closed Cls....Red House Farm, Framlington, Suffolk is still coming up as open in the web search

Nelliethehooker I managed to get Lowland CL 45 The Street, Beccles, Gillingham, Norfolk, NR34 0LH, up on CAMC website
    https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/certificated-locations/england/norfolk/loddon/Lowlands-CL/

Agree this one still comes up - Closed Cls....Red House Farm, Marlborough Lane, Saxtead, Woodbridge, Suffolk, IP13 9RD is still coming up as open in the web search

Thanks Johnny, I have found it now. Funny that last night it wasn't coming up. Red House had been closed for a while and then reopened but although Maddie says it is closed as you say it's still showing as open...another strange one.
