Toilet cleaning times

We have just returned from a week at Tewksbury and although there had been no rain and the grass was certainly suffering the wardens were doing a magnificent job in keeping the site tidy. The one thing that we really liked was that the toilets were cleaned in the afternoons thus allowing everybody to get up reasonably and shower/wash etc in the morning without rushing. The toilets were then cleaned pm when most people were out enjoying themselves. Why can't this be the norm on CCM sites. On many sites the cleaning is carried out in the morning when people who are on holiday want to get up shower/wash etc and not to have to rush.

Forgive me if this has been discussed before, no doubt if it has this will be moved and I will be rebuked.

    Surely not! surprised

I guess on many sites there aren’t sufficient staff to cope with cleaning facilities and booking in new arrivals. Other than that - dunno.smile

It's been a thorn in peoples sides for some time GH.

There doesn't seem to be a definitive answer and I don't recall ever seeing anything from HQ explaining the reasons behind toilet cleaning.

I was on a site this year in France that cleaned the toilets 3 times a day. The first time being around 7am, they didn't even close them, just worked around anybody in there. It worked well

I think the club allow the site staff discretion on how they run the sites.  It will always depend on how many toilet blocks there are on site as well as how many site staff there are and how they feel they can best operate the site.

If folks are on holiday and don't want to rush, and aren't happy with the cleaning times on site they could always use their own onboard facilities at a time to suit themselves. smile

I like an early shower but my OH prefers to go later, straight after they've been cleaned.

No matter what times the facilties are closed for cleaning it will not be acceptable to some, as we are at Tewksbury now and some have been complaining that when they arrive after a long journey and get set up, they find the showers are being cleaned, but as stated by site staff how many hours above the 22 already normally available do some people wantsurprised

But then in the UK many already complain about site prices without employing full time cleaning staff, also in France and some other countries they are not as hung up about closing facilities as the UK as noted in their sevice areas where women will use the men's toilets if there is a queue at theirscool

I prefer to shower in the afternoon after we've been out walking for the day. But if the toilet block is being cleaned I'm quite happy to wait and have a beer or a cuppa until they're open again. I really don't understand why folk get so hung up about this when they're supposed to be enjoying themselves on holiday! undecided

We have just spent a few days at Broadway club site. It was beautifully kept and a great credit to the site staff. AND even better the toilets were cleaned in the afternoon, which in my view suits most visitors far more than cleaning in mid-morning. This is the first site visited in over twenty-five years of club membership which didn't have morning toilet cleaning.

I am reluctant to criticise site staff as I feel that (with very very rare exceptions) they do an excellent job. However, I have always thought that cleaning was "morning-arranged" for the convenience of staff and not that of visitors

It's good to have new topics once in a while 👍

Sorry but I'm enjoying myself too much rather than faff about toilet cleaning hours, I just use them when they are open.

What could be simpler than that for a stress free holiday laughing

Where there are two it does not really matter, as there is always one open. Where there is one, it is always going to be a problem to someone, morning or afternoon. As moulesy, I don't see it as an issue and just work round it.

For most, I imagine early afternoon might be the most convenient time to have toilet blocks closed for cleaning. It wouldn't be so bad if blocks closed at 11.00am but many are earlier than this. Having said that many sites do have alternative arrangements whilst the main block is closed for cleaning so not sure there is a blanket decision to be made.

As long as there is a "relief loo"  wink I think all is fairly ok. I can imagine that a few people who have to take their vans straight to storage after a holiday or have no on board facilities will be glad to find at least a loo open, But afternoon cleaning is better for most users.

Does it really matter what time the cleaners close the public lavatories for cleaning.  ----  If the need to "go" arises, just use your own private facilities. ----- Simples!

When cleaners close public toilets it would be unusual to carry other toilet facilities with youwink

Cleaning can be done at any time for me, I use the bathroom in my caravan. The only time I use the sites is when I’ve packed everything away ready for the journey home and I want to empty my bodies “internal tank” embarassed before setting off. Its pot luck if the block is closed for cleaning at that time.

morning cleaning usually on the sites I've been on starts around 10.30 and, certainly for me that is plenty of time not to rush. We usually go off site at 11 anyway.

also the cleaning routine may has to fit in with other site considerations? On one set warden sites, the office is closed while the cleaning is done so it may have to be in the morning?

Only a small number of sites that I've visited have done cleaning in the afternoon and I do prefer it. I think it spreads the total number of morning ablutioneessmile over a longer time period. Possibly reducing the likelihood  of queues ??

I sometimes also like to take a bit longer starting my day and making it more relaxing than the workday 7.00am shower.

But it's just a personal preference and I'll use our own facilities, if I miss the blocks opening times.
