Both areas are worth seeing, not comparable really as they have their own delights. If you plump for one maybe others will give you their ideas about sites and places to visit nearby.
I'd happily go to either area, hope you have a good time in September.

We stayed here last September http://www.davidklyne.co.uk/llanberis_touring_park.html You can walk to from the site to quite a few attractions including the Snowden Mountain Railway.

Love the Lakes but main issue is finding camp sites within close distance (ie walking) to towns and villages. Already booked for Keswick to https://www.castlerigg.co.uk/ for Ocober but have stayed on http://castleriggfarm.com/ which is just opposite as well.

Both areas have their outdoor attractions. The Lake district, being the most picturesque area of England, has everything for the outdoor enthusiast. Snowdonia in Wales is also very picturesque and an adventure area for the great outdoors. Just choose one of them this time and the other the next time you are going away. There are loads of campsites in both areas.
