Snooper problems

Does anyone else have problems with a Snooper sat nav - the Ventura Pro Caravan Club edition? I bought one last October. It had light use since and just when I wanted to rely on it for a main holiday, it froze. I am struggling with the returns service which
is handled by Big Red Group. As requested, I returned the Sat Nav to them on 31st July. Mid August they were in touch requesting the plastic bracket. Took me a morning to go to our motorhome to collect as they insisted on having it though I could not see how
that would help find the problem. Now some 6 weeks on I still do not have it returned nor an explanation as to what is being done about it. Seems poor consumer service to me. I am right now surprised that our club endorses the product.

I have the snooper ventura caravan club edition and after 3 years the unit just keeps buzzing and turning off.

I have contacted snooper and I have to ring the service department before I can send it.

I have tried 5 times hanging on for over 15 mins a time and just cant get through.

The service side is pathetic and the CCC should stop endorsing them.

Try sending an email at first.

I know their help desk is frustrating but perseverance is the word.

We bought a Snooper s2700 from a caravan shop in march, we got it home registered it and did a map and software update. In August we go to Holland, Germany and Denmark, so I thought I would get ahead of the game and do another update. The map updater software now tells me that my satnav isn't what they have registered on their system. I've been in touch with them (although the first call took 45 mins, it came off my mobile call allowance of 1000 mins). They had me take a photo of the system version and e-mail it to them, I await their response and I'll let you know how I get on.

I have had a response from Snooper, took the best part of 2 weeks and a couple more Emails. They sent me a micro sd card with a new map on it and I had to return my micro sd card, All postage was paid for, but they did take a £99 "deposit" until my card was returned. I haven't tried a update yet because in less than a week we go away and I haven't got the time to mess about if it doesn't work.

Overall up to now I'm happy with the service.

I am on my second ventura pro in 3 years, problems with USB power supply in both cases now after nearly 2 weeks and numerous phone calls/emails they tell me that the second device is beyond economic repair & have offered me a new one at 25% discount = £277, joke did search on web and for the problem as described by Snooper i found a company that will repair for £60. still pressing for new device FOC, not sure the club still endorse this product, they seem to have moved on to a Garmin product. Would not buy again

PLT, they probably requested the plastic bracket because there are 2 types, the original did not support the power cable and there were lots of problems with the USB power port failing, probably as a result of the drag from the power cable, the updated version instructed you to feed the cable round the back of the cradle and through a cable holder which had the effect of eliminating the drag. Trini, you are right perseverance is what is needed when dealing with snooper, they have now agreed to provide me with a new device for £129 which i have accepted, much better than the £277 originally quoted, and a better option than getting the old one repaired at £60. As for customer service, i think they only have 1 person in this department, at least that is what it seems like.

Rufs, we also had problems with our C.C edition Snooper which at first we thought was a fuse problem in our vehicle, we were in Europe at the time,so it was not so easy to explain the problem. Eventually we were told it was the device itself, by an advisor from Snooper, and that it was best to replace it, which we now have,  with a Garmin edition and that has proved to be very good.

millielou, snap, mine also failed whilst we were in Europe, I dont think it is anything to do with the fact that they were C.C edition, they are a S6800 model i believe the only thing that makes them CC edition is the data base of club sites that they install. I see they are now installing C&CC data base of sites i think in lieu of C&MHC. Would have moved to Garmin product but as Snooper have offered new device for £129 i thought i would give it one more try rather than fork out £300 - £400 for a garmin device. Interestingly there are sites out there there that do offer to repair satnavs at very reasonably prices, but not sure how efficient these repairs are, one offered to replace USB power supply for £60, but Snooper told me it was beyond econmical repair as main PCB board was damaged which they said was due to user error, not sure how they worked that one out as the device either sat in the cradle when in use or in the hard carrying case when not. Tip with Snooper if you get bogged down in customer service ask for managers name & email directly with threat of going to trading standards, surprising the reaction you get

took delivery of my new snooper today, 3rd one, in the process of charging etc before i try it, but interestingly there is a complete re-design of the power sockets etc, there is now a seperate USB port, together with a stronger looking power jack, and a seperate socket for the antenna with its own aerial lead rather than being an integral part of the power cable as before, looks like they have listened to the customers who have complained re failure of power through, what i thought was a flakey USB port.
