Busy time for CL's

We realised on Wednesday that we were able to get away this weekend due to a change in circumstances, so tried to book a CL somewhere within an hour's drive of home.    Tried all my regular ones, all full so tried a few new to us ones, also full.    Have managed to get one at last but not before I'd tried a good 15 or so.    I realise it was very short notice and the school holidays but it did occur to me how popular CL's are now.

Long live the CL - but not if I can't get booked! surprised

East Coast will be busy!laughing Not sure where in East Yorks you are, but take a look at College Farm CL over Humber in Alkborough. Lovely place, no facilities other than basics, but very pretty, nice walks from Site and a great Farm Cafe alongside location. It's one of our local boltholes.

Moonstone - are you in the C&CC?  If so, I can share one of our favourite CS's. near Malton.  We joined the 'other club' just to use that site! I know how busy it is in this part of the world at the moment - John at High Breame (Flamborough), and another bolthole, is fully booked until well into the autumn.

It must be the area, Moonstone. We are now on our 4th CL of this trip and only 1 was full for a single day and even that one has a space this weekend.

One of my regular CLs has bookings 5 years in advance...

Most of May, June, July next year fully booked

Happy to see CLs thriving perhaps we won’t lose so many each month

Perhaps you can't find a pitch because..

    1) Less people are cancelling bookings this year on CL's (due to the good weather)

    2) There are 70 less CL's across the country than there were in November 2016 - equating to 350 pitches.

Our CL is fully booked through mid August, but has availability most weekends in September

We're there this weekend, one of our local regular sites.   Takes 1/2 hour from our house over the bridge.    Love the cafe there too laughing

Not currently in CCC only CMC, usually we don't have any problem, but what with the good weather, and the school holidays it just is busy - can only be good for the CL owners.

Cl's will be busy at this time of the year when considerate caravanning couples leave the " Full Fat " campsites for families to enjoy.

Why K, after all only 391 out of 2266 CLs are adult only, so potentially 9375 pitches available for all sorts of folk

We have managed to book a cl in near Kings Lynn for Easter next year and just managed to get the last pitch!

We generally use CL/CS for 6 times a year and only use club sites for 2 other trips and find them busier each year.

Great to know CLs are thriving. I have to say that since we went completely off grid, I've only had one site that I had to wait for a cancellation on and it eventually came. i now book that site every year, not for that year but the following year! the rest of the time its a breeze

It's not just now, ie during the summer, that CLs have been busy, We've stayed on 26 different ones so far this year and at least half of them have been full for some of the time that we were there. Forward planning is now becoming a necessity for us so as we can get onto the ones we want.

Definitely - I always book the bank holidays well in advance (up to a year sometimes) and one particular site which is near to an event we visit - it's booked 5 years in advance.

Might be a little late now but try either Greenacres (choise of 3 sites) at Bibury or Pardon Hill near Cheltenham.

Only on this specific site which we use to visit an event - the dates are published that far in advance and the site fills up very quickly as do all the others in the area.     (Woodhall Spa 1940's event)
