Electric Hook Ups for tents

I am just wondering why some CMC sites that offer pitches for tents don`t offer EHU facilities.  We have just visited Seacroft and although we have a motorhome our daughter has a tent and I think this is a lovely site but can`t understand for the life of me why  they would provide a tent field without EHU!

There are several reasons that I can think of but I know nothing about how popular tents are on CC sites as I only see a few cyclists or bikers with one or two man tents. This year I have used a number of Caravan and Camping Club sites. The vast majority of tenters chose not to have an EHU pitch. I can imagine that EHU would be desirable for tenters but would the majority want it at £4 a night? That is approx what C&CC charge and I think the Caravan Club includes a similar price in caravan pitch fees.

There are some that do Crossways Dorset is one club have put tents into what was a touring area a bit of a walk to toilet block although the shower block is closer but it is next to a busy road and not to much throughout the day either, Hunters Moon no EHO again a bit of a walk to the facililties, Southlands on Isle of Wight does have EHU possibly some more sites do.

We were tenters for many years and did not have EHU on any of the sites we used, things are different today.

Agree with EasyT that paying £4 a night for EHU is a bit pricey for most tenters.

Seacroft was a commercial site when club took it over and the tent field was already there and at the time no EHU.

Hendy, they’re(C&MC) are neither totally on board with the whole tent thing nor(to my knowledge) do they intend to be☹️.the ‘inclusivity’ of the C&MC is of the mainly LV variety. I use the commercial sector mainly as they are more open to choice re everyone’s needs. The C&CC cater for tents far better. Good luck👍🏻😊

Ferry Meadows and Hillhead have two tent areas one with EHU and one without the non EHU on both sites seems more popular

EHU pitches for tents at Hillhead are popular, they are in former hedged single caravan pitches. There is a also small area where a few non EHU pitches exist. The club has tended to squeeze in tent pitches as an after thought. On the whole tent users are better catered for elsewhere although I think the Seacroft and Trewethett camping areas are a lot better than provision on most club sites even without EHU.

I have not slept in a tent since I was a teenager. When I started touring it was with a trailer tent and in the days when EHU was often not used and on many sites not provided.

I have therefore no idea how tent camping on CC is charged for in as much as is there an additional charge for non CC members?

On the face of it I would certainly use the other club if I tented except when a CC site was on the doorstep of an attraction perhaps or had additional attractions for me - in my case non do.

On the three sites ours sons have met up with us, the charges were levied in the same way as for a caravan. Pitch fee, plus charge for each adult. The fees were the same wether you were a member or not. The adult fee was the same as we paid.

In practice I doubt that many would be members, so probably the simplest method of charging.
