Bluebird
Great to see the pictures of Donald Campbell's iconic Bluebird returning to the water yesterday after years of dedicated restoration. I can still remember clearly the black and white TV pictures of that final fateful drive of his on Lake Coniston. One of my all time heroes. And great to see his daughter Gina there to witness the scenes - what an emotional day it must have been for her. It seems there is a chance it will be powered up and driven again next year - an occasion keenly anticipated.

I agree.
To rebuild bluebird is a fitting tribute to a great British Adventurist. I hope that the engine runs which were scheduled for yesterday, went well, and I look forward to seeing her on Coniston water again one day. Hopefully at demonstration speeds only.

I understood that this was just to see if she floated okay and that they were looking to start the engines at a later date and give her a trial run but never again at any great speed.
I too would like to see her again on Coniston Water.

Great achievement just to rebuild Bluebird, looking forward to seeing her powered up again. Donald Campbell was the only person to hold both the land speed and water speed records at the same time. I well remember going to Coventry in the very earlt 60’s to see the Bluebird car.
