It’s not that far to Skye from Morvich but there are quite a lot of miles of road over on the island. It’ll probably take longer than you think to tour. Why not stay overnight there?
Midges are unpredictable but Skye seems to attract them. They are usually at their worst anytime through from June to August but there’s no guarantee.
I can’t remember what phone signals were like and have no experience of satellite there. However, there are a lot of mountains around so I wouldn’t expect much.

We were at Morvich last year and did a full day on Skye. We went over the Bridge then drove around the Island and returned via the Glenelg ferry. Lovely trip with plenty of POI and of course scenery. We went in August and to be honest we weren’t too bothered by midges, skin so soft by Avon helps to deter them.
We never take TV in the van so can’t help there. I think the phone was hit and miss.
As an aside diesel was cheaper at Broadford on Skye than anywhere around the Kyle of Lochalsh.

It is probably 5 years since we went to Morvich and signal with Orange/EE was fine. We don't watch TV but there are TV points on EHU bollards.
There are two routes into the site but found this on web page:-
Site information
If approaching the site from the South please be aware that the right turn after the Jac-o-Bite restaurant is currently closed for repairs to a collapsed bridge further down past Ault a'chruinn. To reach the site please continue on the A87 and take the first right turn after you cross Loch Duich. Follow this road for just over a mile until you see the sign for the site on the left (on the way you will cross a small bridge over the River Croe and the site will be visible on the left just after this).1 -
Look at the small commercial site at Sligachen on Skye. Superb location and more central. Midges will be a problem at either site from late May to mid September. I wear a head net when fishing. Cheap to buy at outdoor shops. but no way will you stop the blighters getting into your van. No idea about phones etc.

I find the phone reception variable, not particularly good, some days I had to walk to a different part of the site to get a signal, I'm with ID mobile though, not exactly a mainstream player !
There is TV hook up, I think there are only 10 channels and some of those are the less popular ones. When the system was down, we could get zilch through our own aerial.
Midges - it's the west coast of Scotland! Loads of them if the breeze drops!

We've stayed at the Morvich site many times, it is set among stunning scenery and is a mecca for Walkers, Climbers, and other outdoor enthusiasts. You won't be far from the Skye Bridge and also the most interesting crossing to Skye via the Kyle Rhea ferry from Glenelg some 12 miles from site over the breathtaking Mam Ratagan pass.
Skye it'self is a large Island and if you want to see it properly, I would recommend staying on the Island for a few days. There is much to see and do for anybody enjoying the great outdoors. Not much for the "retail therapy" enthusiasts though. As said earlier, it would be prudent to equip yourself with midge nets, they are cheap and easy to wear if the Wee Beasties come out to play.
I have no idea about TV reception as we never take a TV on holiday but depending on your phone network there can be reasonable reception. as you tour around.
You are certainly going to visit some of the best Scenery in the UK and I do hope you enjoy your holiday.
Regards Kennine.

We stayed at Morvich during our 4-5 week tour of Scotland in 2016. We did it in last two weeks of September and first two weeks of October and had no problems at all with the midges and the weather was excellent for that time of the year. Of all the sites we stopped on during the tour, Morvich was top of the list, fantastic, beautiful and proves what touring with caravan-motorhome is all about. We spent two days touring Skye, over the bridge and back on the Ferry. I think there are TV mounts but can't remember about the phone signal, as we don't worry to much about the phone. Have a great trip, you have made me feel envious as we are not going back to Scotland until next year, again Sept/Oct. Don't worry about some roads which are single track, the pace of life is much slower there and so is the traffic on the roads.

Tintent- excellent picture. After Uni I worked for NTS when they acquired the Balmacara and Kintail Estates. Spent a great time there. Before the bridge of course and when the men walked out of the Bar in Kyle when a woman entered. Nostalgia!!

this may be the wrong place to ask my question, but all previous respondents have travelled the ground I wish to tread.
I am travelling from west wales to dunvegan on Skye on the 12 August.
My ? is which route do you all recommend to get to Skye from the M74 Glasgow area. I regularly travel to Arbroath and have intimate knowledge of the route via Perth etc.to the east.
Many route planners to choose from, some give the A9 and then west from Perth others west from Glasgow via the M898 and the A82 and over the Skye bridge.
I am towing a twin axle so have a large lump to consider.
Glasgow and A82 along loch Lomond seems ok, but have no experience of this area.
Appreciate all suggestions. Thanks

We visited in May a couple of years ago and stopped for two weeks. The weather was good and largely midge free. Certainly no need for repellents during our stay.
We did visit the Takisker distillery on Skye during our stay, about half way up from the bridge. Personally if I was wishing to do more I would want to stop on the island.
My 3 network MiFi worked well, perfectly adequate for face time tethered to our O2 smart phone, which could not even get a phone signal. The old Vodaphone I had got a good phone signal and talking with someone with a smart version, they were able to get 3G.
Our satellite was bust so can't comment, but the mountains are steep sided and high. Terrestrial on the status aerial was non existent, on the site loop variable. Sound was often out of sync with pictures. However, the scenery more than makes up for it.
