Heatwave what heatwave!!
Amber alert and stay indoors, you must be joking. It's another gloomy miserable day here and it's been raining. Really fed up.

I think we're forecast 27C today Natasha and our part of Somerset seems to have been in a very dry pocket for a long time. I don't know where you are but it certainly isn't hot and dry everywhere. I'm going to make the best of it as in previous summers we've had too much of the alternative.

Loving it 😃😃 23 in the deep shade here. I am in the souteast so it's where the warning applies.
We had a silly amount of rain, made the hard surfaces glisten, last week but it must now be 9 weeks without rain. Could be more I don't note it. We're very used to dry conditions in Essex but this is not like usual 😲.
I missed the winter 😉 blasts but I think this is the follow up to that. Sorry for those of you not getting dry and sunny. But I'm making the most of this last year when the children broke up up for summer it rained persistently even here for the duration. I know when the rain comes it won't know when to stop 😲.

Just a light shower overnight here. Enough to make things a bit cooler.

Dry and hot here as well. We are same as you OP, I can't recall last time it rained properly, back in April I believe. Already nearly 28c here, zinging. Way too hot to sit outside without protection. Yorkshire, the southern edges!

The past few weeks have been very warm and dry, but now the temperature here is fairly pleasant and we've had a few rain showers which the garden really needed. Just fairly average weather for late July.

No rain here in Leicestershire for weeks! Has allowed me to take the roof off a building, take a wall down, put in stronger foundations, rebuild the wall and put the roof back on- not a drop!! That’s never happened before. However, it’s becoming a little waring now and rain would be much appreciated!

We have a 34% chance of rain at 7am on Friday....that is typical of the forecasts we've had lately and the likelihood of it happening doesn't seem to be very realistic. I think the weather forecasters are just trying to be kind and raise our hopes a tiny bit.

The media are milking this summer weather. Predicting armageddon and worse
What's the difference between Mediterranean weather in the South of France Spain or Italy and the same weather in the UK. ? --- Moaning and complaining in the UK
The weather is great - no problems - Enjoy it while it lasts.

The media milk most things, the trick is not to believe them!
Our little weather station is telling us 31.7c, car says 31c, phone app says currently 31c. We have cloud at moment and it is getting hotter! Original forecast for last few days now has been thunderstorms, but someone, somewhere else is getting our share. Way too hot to be outdoors midday, best to be sensible.

Earlier this afternoon our weather station here in sunny Somerset recorded a high of 34c. This is in a rural area, I dread to think what it must be like in our towns and cities today. Tomorrow is supposed to be warmer...

I saw a piece on a local news channel taking about it being a bad year(so far) for farmers-Winter-beast from the east, Farmers ask for aid to save livestock. Spring-fields flooded, Farmers ask for aid due to crop loss. Summer-no rain, crops failing, Farmers ask for aid due to crop loss. Well it ain’t news, I remember most years the Farmers ask for aid. In ‘Farmer World’ there’s no such thing as a good year😂😂

What!!! This is nothing compared to summer '76'. I was working hard as an engineer then and the heat and the length of time it continued was almost impossible to endure, but we all got through it, the gardens got back to normal, we did not die of thirst and the reservoirs soon re filled. I am enjoying this period (partly due to no more work) and before we know where we are the school holidays will be over, autumn will be here and we will be wanting this lovely weather back. Long may it continue!!!!

That’s a typical news story you’ve repeated, Rocky. Rather, it’s non-news as it’s no change from any other year, as you said.
The weather is a lifesaver to the media at the moment as there’s so little else to report.

I don’t think anyone is denying the facts, DD, only pointing out that it’s nothing new.

The Gov publish all crop, animal yields and holdings every year, HERE the costs will be higher this year in some places due to the effects of the weather. It's good to see we are major producers in the EU at the moment. A lot of southwest farmers are boosting feed due to parched grass just now.
Another hot day here in Somerset and another day with a low percent forecast of rain.

Fair comment Brue👍🏻. I’m not anti Farmer at all. All Govt’s of all colours have squeezed the Farming industry & offered state aid for generations. It is now a way of life. A lot are now ‘Agri-businesses’ not mere farms. They have become very rich indeed. For every winner is a loser, not many Farmers shout that they’re the ‘crop yield’ winners. . . .It just doesn’t pay☹️

Most of the cereals harvested here, no disruption due to heavy rain and crops not bashed down by strong winds so its not all doom and gloom. I expect that the sugar beet will get enough of the moist stuff before harvesting from October and March so we can expect a bumper crop there.

I was thinking, Rocky, maybe you live in an area of industrial scale farming but a lot of the uk has much smaller farms. Sadly we've seen council owned starter farms sold off round here making it harder for new farmers to get going. Things don't pay well either because the sell on prices for yields are not realistic, so we get cheap food but we subsidise it. Although I'd rather we had plenty of our own food than be dependent on other countries?
That is the end of the Farming Programme from me, now off to the chiller section in the supermarket where everyone complains it's cold....

Thankyou, it was an enjoyable sojourn😊

Heatwave?, it’s really over(here) now👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻😊. Good light show overnight, the water butts are 4/5ths full. The pool(paddling) is even topped up😂😂. The acid lovers are perking up. The air is cool now & not stifling. . . .All is well in my world👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Decent rain overnight here nothing to keep us awake storm wise. First water butt in the chain almost full, but sadly I can't get anything out if it 😲😲. Had crossed my mind maybe I should empty out the residue below the tap but it was so hot and sticky here yesterday I didn't 😲. Now to syphon into another butt, which I'll clean first 😉 and then clean that one. Wouldn't mind but I've showered and primped as meeting a friend at some point today. So will have to start again 😂😂.
Sun's now out and it feels lovely only 18.6c in the deep shade when I last looked. Everything in the garden is looking delighted with their wash and drink.
