just asking K but are they your own words this time or copied off wikipedia?

so it appears that like everything on CT people have to do as you are told and no deviation with your own pets is allowed

There was a report on one of the on-line newspapers yesterday about the massive increase is obese dogs. This is due to their owners not allowing them enough exercise.
Why do so many so called dog lovers put the health of their dogs at risk by not taking them for proper walks ?. Laziness and lack of care come immediately to mind.

K, care to explain how I can get exercise a none overweight, previously happy to walk a dozen miles aged eight Labrador, diagnosed with arthritis in three legs and spondylitis in his spine? He can barely do 400 metres now without needing a sit down some days. Around the house he is happy, comfortable, potters around at his own pace, does what he can. We swim him at the coast when we can, but rivers and the like sometimes upset his skin. We have paid out hundreds of pounds trying various things to improve his condition, we pay out hundreds of pounds for pain relief and between us and our vet, manage things so that he has a decent, interesting, pain limited lifestyle. Included in this is a Doggy-hut, we take it with us on walks, he hops in and out when he needs to, and it has extended our walks with him. Not tried it behind bike, as we have a second older Lab so would need a second Doggy Hut!
You have no idea what you take on when becoming responsible for a dog. You just do the best you can if they need help. So please don't preach about the best way to look after a dog. I wish you joy with your healthy one.

Well said, TDA. Ignore the comments from those who know not what they’re talking about.

It’s a pity that skill isn’t demonstrated more often.

Nope, I'm definitely not convinced by some posters ideas of how to exercise dogs
IMO the best exercise a healthy dog can have, is to be taken daily for regular walks in the countryside (walking on his/her own paws of course) . Dogs love to explore, to socialise, to walk,to run,to paddle, to swim as they see fit. They are wonderful creatures and IMHO let a dog be a dog, they are perfect as they are.
I will therefore leave those who disagree with the paragraph above to continue with this thread as I've nothing else to add. ..-- as they say in Dragon's Den ----- I'm Out !!

I think K is one of the-‘I’m leaving & will never return’ types who places a mental rider that goes-‘for at least a few hours’😂😂😂

Oh, surely not! I can’t believe K would be so weak minded as to come back now.
PS. He’d likely get a mate to post instead. 👍🏻
