Haycraft 2018
This is one of our very favourite sites and use it regularly. Trevor & Claire are excellent wardens, nothing is too much trouble and although the TB is fairly old the pressure and heat are one of the best. We chose Haycraft as we have a Border Collie who loves to chase a ball and our previous holidays this year did not have such good dog facilities. Imagine to our horror that the excellent dog field had been left wild about 3/4 ft high with paths mown round it owing to members (not dogs) wanted a more 'interesting' walk.Nobody asked us what we wanted, the new type of M/H point would have been our priority as the facility now is on a slope. One cannot throw the ball the same and there is also the possibility of tics and grass seeds getting into the dogs ears and paws. On talking to other members some other sites have the same idea. There is also an abomination of a dog facility now fenced round nr TB which spoils the site and can make it difficult for large outfits to manoevre on to opposite pitch. Please please can we have our mown field back.

Susie, I don't know whether you intended your post as a discussion or a review. But my own personal feeling about mown paths in the dogs walks is that I like them. I've been to Haycraft so I know what you mean but I've also enjoyed the mown paths at Plymouth and Ilfracombe. I don't have ball chasing dogs, at present a terrier who likes sniffing round paths.

As this area is still part of the site, indeed the children's play area is set beyond it, plus the dog walk circuits the play area, should any dog not be on a lead anyway and not be running free?
I have not been there for a few years so can't remember if the dog zone is fenced and gated so free running dogs can't break out, which would put a somewhat differing light on things.
For all the years we had ours that is the rule we thought applied on then CC, and most other sites.
Would be interesting to get the Club's current ruling.

If it's the field on the left then it's fenced in with the cow fields behind it, the play ground area is to the right in a separate field. Our Springer used to luv running around the edges chasing the birds so watch out at Treamble for two mad springers in the dog run.
