Celebrities going caravanning

Yes, indeed, it is something of a carry on. I originally got the title of the programme incorrect when I started the post as I only saw a trailer (no pun intended) on the telly, and didn’t catch exactly what it was called. It should be “Celebrity 5 Go Caravanning”. I think your version is is more accurate, jrf, but haven’t we all had problems when we started out? Some of us still do It’s a wonder we’re still doing it, to be honest.

You say that as though a course or instruction is obligatory. I'm sure that most here are old enough to have grand fathers rights to the B+E on their licence & just hooked up & drove off .... I certainly did. But I was reversing trailers round farm yards at 14/15 😉

Apparently it is the most watched Channel 5 programme with 1.2 million viewers so perhaps not too bad for our hobby?

There are so few TV programmes about caravanning that I have watched the first two episodes of this. But can they really not find five celebrities who will all actually agree to stay in their caravans overnight rather than checking into a nearby hotel (Sherrie Hewson & Sonia) - it's not a great advert for caravanning. And apparently one of the celebrities leaves next week. I'd have much preferred to watch celebrities who would all enter into the spirit of the thing and stay until the end!

I think the program was made as light entertainment rather than to promote caravanning. I just accept it for what it is.

I enjoyed the episodes in the main but cringed a bit when the seagulls were freely fed. Tony Blackburn clearly found it amusing. Nothing to do with caravanning I know but the locals are trying to wean the gulls off stealing food from the holidaymakers.

I haven't seen much of it as we're away in the caravan at the moment, but I did see part of the latest episode on a late night repeat. I notice Todd Carty has dropped out and has been replaced by Brian Capron (formerly Richard Hillman from Corrie). They've cheated a little bit as Brian Capron has a Motorhome. We had the pitch next door to him a couple of years ago at a site called Clover Fields at Buxton. He was in a show at Buxton Opera House for a couple of nights an obviously used the Motorhome as accommodation! 😀😀
