Flexing Shower Tray

I have a 1996 Abbey Devon which has a separate shower. A few years ago the tray got a crack in the side which leaked water. I got this fixed by having the crack repaired and a coating sprayed over the whole tray. I now have a shower that works well, but the base flexes when I stand on it and I am worried that this will cause another crack to appear.

I don't want to remove the tray, so was wondering if I spray expanding foam via the underneath of the 'van  whether this would work and support the tray. Has anyone tried this or have other suggestions. Thanks.

    Hi Ian,

I had a similar problem and reinforced the base with expanding foam and have experienced no further problems, this was some four years ago. I drilled a hole outside the washroom compartment and pumped the foam in.  Be aware that surplus foam can appear in odd places so have plenty clean cloth to wipe excess away. I used a plastic screw cover to seal the hole and quickly discovered it needed to be taped down until the foam hardened. Hope this helps.

We successfully repaired a delaminating floor in our van, with expanding foam, many years ago. Beware that the foam expands a lot, and forcefully, so you need to be careful how much you inject if you want to avoid bulges.
