List of Site Wardens 2018
Can anyone tell us if there is a list of site wardens available online. Thanks.

No. A Club spokesman explained about Data Protection Regulations last year.

Not quite sure why anyone would need such a list?

Maybe they want to avoid certain wardens.

Or they're groupies.

This question crops up regularly.......

The GDPR regs. that came in in May this year prevent such lists being published. It's completely different having our names on a board outside reception as you have to actually visit the site to see them.

As far as I understand GDPR, each warden would have to consent to their name being published, and by definition, if the site was listed as well, that in effect means their (temporary) address would be as well.
Whilst not a warden. i personally would not consent to my name and address being available on line, in that way, as there is no need for it to be so. I can’t think how one could justify it. Remember, one is advised to destroy envelopes received in the mail, to help prevent identity theft, so unnecessary broadcast of similar presents a risk of a data breech.
A board outside of reception displaying names is different as it’s only visible to the few who physically visit, not to thousands who could access on line data. Compare it with a pub landlord - the name is displayed outside a pub, but I doubt if you could access a list of all landlords of, say, Greene King pubs.

I've recently had some GDPR training at work and cant see any reason why a list of wardens couldn't be published, it would just need to be kept upto date with any changes.

Why does anyone need to know? I mean really need to know?

I don’t claim to be an expert on GDPR, just trying to apply some logic.
the ‘consent’ section of GDPR would surely apply, in that wardens would have to give it.
also, I think one could question ‘purpose’. Why would I as a user of C&MC services, need to know the name of a warden before I get to a site?
Maybe my example of pubs wasn’t a good one, due to the legal considerations of holding a licence to sell alcohol, making it different to wardens.
i am not saying it is right or wrong, simply that I consider it unnnecessary and I wouldn’t give consent if I were a warden.

Is this the information you were looking for DD, just in case there was any doubt
The law protects personal data regardless of the technology used for processing that data – it’s technology neutral and applies to both automated and manual processing, provided the data is organised in accordance with pre-defined criteria (for example alphabetical order). It also doesn’t matter how the data is stored – in an IT system, through video surveillance, or on paper; in all cases, personal data is subject to the protection requirements set out in the GDPR.
Examples of personal data
a name and surname;
a home address;
an email address such as name.surname@company.com;
an identification card number;
location data (for example the location data function on a mobile phone)*;2 -
Does it really matter?
For goodness sake you are coming across like a barrack room lawyer with an employee, not the company in the dock.
A question was asked, an employee responded, you now choose to interrogate the employee.
If it bothers you that much drop a note to the relevant manager at club HQ and interrogate them.

You’ve just outlined the very reason I won’t use the C&CC forum, Cariadon. It doesn’t even take a very clever person to put 2 and 2 together.

Surely the Club have a duty of care towards their employees and to publish such a list as requested could be seen as going against that duty of care as it could expose individual employees to the opportunity of abuse if someone had a grudge against someone. Now the likelihood of that happening might be very small but if the list was published it could pose an increased risk. We are also much more aware these days about personal privacy which in itself would be justification for the list not being published.

As a school governor and form those still at the chalkface this GDPR is a big problem. Larger schools are employing their own GDPR officer to ensure compliance or primaries sharing with a neighbouring school. The fines are enormous if you do not comply, or found not to comply. The club will be facing the same rules and challenges and I am sure they will have either got a consultant in or employed their own data expert to make sure they are in order.

What I quoted is the fact the law says we cannot display such information, why and which part of the legislation is of no importance to me, the GDPR specialist at the club will take care of that, all I need to know is what I’m aloud or not aloud to do.
if you really want to know the detail of what part of the law it is I suggest you read up on it,
