Same here. We disabled the last one we had. It wasn’t hard to find.
The discount offered by insurance companies for having a tracker is usually far outweighed by subscription costs.

I have a Tracker (the Tracker brand) . Until now the subscription has been £60 a year and I had a £75 discount on my insurance premium. Just had the renewal demand from Tracker and they want £99.
I had a different make on a previous van and it managed to drain the battery within one month on winter storage.
Thinking now is the time to junk this device altogether

Seriously looked at these when changed last van.
Issue 1. Do I want it back? Probably not. I pay a tidy sum to have it insured. Still feel this is a bit defeatist though.
Issue 2. You only get an insurance discount if you have an active tracked one, i.e. monitored 24/7 by them. These generally attract a fee of more than the saving.
Issue 3. Buy a low cost one, this requires you to track it and report location to police.
In the end I did not fit one, two wheel locks, hitchlock on a gold storage site.

We have a Phantom tracker, came with the van, which is linked to the alarm system and is permanently active, the annual fee is still a few pounds less than the insurance discount.
If that were not the case, we would not bother with it.
We also have a remote Alde control thing which takes a SIM card and I can text it to do various things like turn on the heating, adjust the temperature, and send me the exact position of the van.

Hi Kj, I know that you have an older van, so I’m guessing that your Alde internet capability is an add on which you’ve fitted. Is it plug and play, connecting to an existing controller socket? And did you.manage to avoid a dealers mark up, because Alde aren’t keen on direct sales?
