Not quite so, R&R. See my earlier posts.

Also, even the rules which are not law can be used in evidence in court to demonstrate careless driving, or whatever, if they are breached.

I see it as being courteous and helpful to allow held up traffic to pass. It also makes my driving experience much nicer. Cant understand the thoughtless attitude shown by some here, but there we go.

Hi Tinwheeler, maybe we're saying much the same thing but coming at it from different  directions in that the breach is against the RTA which in turn is underpinned by the HC.

By the way, you've been posting a lot longer than me. Do you know what the 'p' means on the bottom of the page. Noticed it's been asked by others on several threads but never seen an explanation.

Perhaps we are but certainly HC rules stating 'must' or 'must not' are law.

Take no notice of the 'p'. It’s something to do with formatting I think but pretty much a mystery to us all. You may notice it change to something else equally meaningless when you edit a post.

May I ask in what part of Devon you live? We are south Cornwall near St Austell.

You're in a nice part of the country. Over the years tended to visit the north coast, various sites between Polzeath and Mawgan Porth. Moved down from Cheltenham to a village near Honiton and about 12 miles from Sidmouth after retirement 4 years ago.

That’s quite a convenient place to be. Handy for the A30 and Exeter and Honiton's a nice town. I guess you've visited the donkeys.

I like the north coast but it’s not quite so stormy on the south coast. It was a beautiful evening here tonight.

Down your way in a couple of weeks. Taking the daughter and grandchildren to Pentewen Sands. Looking forward to that 🙂

It looked very full there when I passed last weekend, Freddy, as were other sites along the valley. Enjoy your stay.

Now you may just have hit on the reason all these m/hs want to get past us road blockers DD. They're trying to get to the seafront before anyone else where they occupy a parking place, open the side door, stick a camp chair onto the cycle path and sit out on a melting piece of tarmac whilst entertaining the passing public with a disco comprising endless Beach Boys 'music'. Why do they do that when the inviting beach is about 15ft away?

And before anyone accuses me of wild imagination that is exactly what I saw in Exmouth last week. Oh, for good measure the large van also blocked the views for a number of people relaxing in the beach huts.

But help is at hand. M/hs are now banned from large areas of the seafront in Exmouth. Bet they won't find a campsite as cheap as car parks or roadside parking.

I took R&R's post as being mostly light hearted, although a few smileys would have helped but, sad to say, many such a post has started an 'us and them' battle before now. Let’s remember we're all vanners and all in this together.

I have seen Exmouth seafront crowded with MHs and, yes, the council have come up with a good solution. We were there in April and the regulatory notices were displayed on lampposts at that time.

P when on the TV means product placement-a company has paid for their product to be seen being used by the actors. There are plenty of product placements around the C&MC pages👍🏻😊

Oops. You're absolutely correct and there was no malicious intent in what I submitted. The m/h vs caravan and Exeter leg-pull has long been a source of banter in the group of nomads that I relax with. The 'smileys' would have helped position my comments better. I excuse myself by saying that I have nothing against m/hs, some of my best friends own them!

As Tinwheeler says we're all in it together for one reason so I hope this post will help to reduce elevated blood pressures nationwide.

    🤐🤐🤐🤐

PS. Devon is a very welcoming and beautiful county. Don't bypass it on the way to Cornwall. Call in!!

DD. Wasn't quite intended in the way it came over. I just replied to Tinwheeler in that vein. I'm not a great 'smiley' fan as they seem to be taking over the world but in this case maybe a few might have been useful. 😬🙈

Personally I think encouraging others to overtake on short stretches of straight rural road is dangerous.

In the interests of safety I ensure that I occupy the centre of the road and drive at a sensible speed,  which often means well below the speed limit, which, after all, is not a target

I might not get there quickly, and I might annoy a few people on the way but a worthy sacrifice. Duty before self.innocent

Yes, was very busy. We stayed in a static, quite nice. The first and last time we stayed there was in a tent, in ‘83. It’s changed quite a bit! Out of choice, not somewhere I would visit again, just too sprawling and disorderly. I like a bit of ‘order’ to things, peace and quiet. I must be getting old 🙁 The grandchildren liked it though, so not all bad...
