Tyrepal
Does anybody here use tyrepal and what is your opinion?
I've had one about a year now and had numerous problems with the sensors, it always seems to be the N/s rear that stops sensing, i've done all the sensible checks, de-select, re-select, new batteries, swap them around but every so often the n/r rear one
stops sensing.
I have sent the whole kit back to tyrepal once, then when it was returned it worked ok for a while, then the same old story, so i sent the faulty sensor back which they replaced with a newer version, i now have another sensor gone down, i took it off, tapped
it on the ground a couple pf times and put it back, hey presto it worked! 5 miles later it stopped working, lol.
I dont know what to do next, any suggestions?
Paul

I have had problems with mine. The extra ones for the car are fine, but after and hour or so driving the nearside caravan ( internal sensor fitted to the wheel ) loses its signal and the system bleeps until I turn it off and restart it. I have toyed with
the idea of deleting it and just screwing on an external sensor.0 -
You don't say what version you are using. I bought the TC215B with six sensors back in April. I have been using 4 on the car since and two on the caravan for about 10 weeks, during that period. To date I have had no problems and have been very happy with
it. The accuracy of the readings compares very favourably with my digital hand tester.1 -
I have a four sensor set on my motorhome and so far its proved OK. The only problem is that its a bit of a faff to change pressures as not only do you have to remove the sensor but also the wheel trims.

I have the system as fitted by Baileyon the U3s and it has worked faultlessly for almost 2 years now.The only slight quirk I have noticed is that if I forget to switch the monitor on before moving off, it takes a while to register the pressures but otherwise
it works OK.0 -

>this thread< started by me in March 2013. I currently have two systems fitted, a TC215 on my motorhome with TB99 sensors on the front expoused wheels and TC215 sensors on the rear and a TB99 system on my towed car. I have had no problems at all with the
TB 99 system and sensors and both configurations have performed faultlessly since August 2015.peedee

We have the TC215 and it is more trouble than its worth plus it being a con as the TC215 is not necessary for a twin axle caravan if your vehicle has an inbuilt tyre pressure system. The cheaper on is more than adequate.
If you set off it can take up to 2 miles to register the readings and if one tyre is low and you are on an A road, nowhere to stop.
A few weeks ago we only remembered to switch it on after we ahd set off. It took nearly 30 miles before all 4 were registered. It has been back to Tyrepal on two different occasions. The first they could not find an issue. The second time they found
an issue with it taking a long tyre to register, but were unable to rectify the issue!A pity there is no competition although there is another one on the market just with a different branding, but it is the same unit!

It's not just me that feels like that then?....lol

One of the six sensors I purchased stopped transmitting after about 10 months of use. I replaced the battery but that did not solve it, so emailed TP. They emailed back a prepayed postage label, for me to return the faulty sensor, and a new one was sent within a couple of days. I think this is excellent service. The design has been somewhat modified since I purchased mine and the small anti theft screw replaced with a locking nut, for which they provided a key. The net result is that it sticks out less, so is less likely to be struck by debris or spray when you hit a puddle.

Now had mine for 2 and a bit years and of the 6 original sensors, only 2 are still working. Failures have varied between stopping working and eating batteries in just a few days.
I was going to resort to just monitoring the van, but managed to pick up some new sensors at a reduced price at one of the caravan shows. So far none of the the new sensors have failed.
It is a very useful bit of kit and one that gives great piece of mind. However, very expensive to run. So far costing about £100 in new sensors.

where have you got the receiver fitted. I had mine on the drivers side just above the dash and only picked up 2 of the 4 sensors. moved it to the middle next to rear view mirror and now no problem. I think that the passengers/driver/seats/headrests all block the reception from the sensors.

Since I wrote this the TB99 sensors on the front wheels of my motorhome have failed. The problems seems to be exposure to the elements. On the front wheels there isn't a recess in the hub and the valves stick out. I have given up monitoring my front wheels. The TB99 system on the car is still working fine.
I have not had any problems with where I locate the receiver. I have had it working below the steering wheel and on top of the drivers side of the dash.

Don't know why but the original link back to March 2013 no longer works. Here is a >new link< The Club seems to be removing older posts??????

When the forum was changed about couple of years ago I think at that point they Deleted User all replies to threads over two years old at the time. I think you can still find posts going back to when the forum started but they only contain the original post by the starter of the thread but no replies appear. Odd state of affairs really as I would have thought making the decision to delete would have included the starter post? I think this is the reason we get people responding to very old threads which have no discussion included!
On the question of Tyrepal. Mine are still working although I have just had to change the batteries. When doing that I noticed a couple of the rubber O rings had broken which I replaced. I wonder if the seals are not in place this allows moisture to get in?

I have one of those Rolston Sat Nav weighted trays that sit on the centre of the dashboard and sit the tyrepal on that as the sat Nav is a fixed type. It does have the advantage of being easy to remove from view, so far there has been no break in reception from the sensors whatsoever. The distance from receiver to sensor is 7.0m

I have it in the same place. Unfortunately it is definitely the sensors. Of the 4 only one failed totally and that would not even re register with the unit alongside. The other 3 just started eating batteries in a few days. The cells went from 3.4 volts to less than a volt.

have they got damp/water in through the seals as normally they come with a spare set of seals. worth taking of and putting on a window sill in sun to dry out for a couple of days and replacing seals and battery's and testing again. I believe the batteries only last about 9/12 months even when van not being used as you cannot turn sensors off.

My sensors are about three years old and I have only just changed the batteries for the first time.

On the two that have carried on working, I have only just replaced the batteries, at a little over two years. According to TP info they should go into sleep mode when the van or car are not moving.
I think that is possibly some of the problem, in that they are always awake. Of the ones that failed, only one showed any sign of damp. I think the problem is possibly how far the original sensors stick out. They could easily be struck by small stones. No idea if such an impact could damage the electronics, though I would not think it would do them any good.
All the new ones are much squatter and fit further into the protection of the wheel. It leads me to speculate if the number of failures they were getting was the reason for this design change. Two if the replacements, even came with a soft rubber like cover, which you put over after attaching. Although this was missing from the two I bought at a later date, possibly because the shape had been revised again making them even less protruding.

Life of the batteries depends on who made them. The cheaper Chinese ones have no life at all. I have battery driven camera which uses Lion batteries and the manual advises against using Chinese batteries because of their expected short life. The problem is deciding which ones aren't made in China!

I have recently purchased a twin axle caravan that came with a the TyrePal TC215/OEK system. Unfortunately one of the tyre pressure sensors is missing. I find I can purchase individual pressure sensors for the new TC215B system but only a full set of 4 for the older TC215 system, at a cost of £100!
Does anyone know where I can purchase individual sensors for the TC215?
Will the TC215B sensor work ok with the TC215 display?
Due to the lock down, I haven't had the oportunity to use it yet so have no feedback on how robust it is.
Thanks
Dave

I have received a reply from TyrePal this morning confirming the new TCSO/N sensor is backwardly compatible with the TC215/OEK display and have ordered one replacement sensor direct from their site here:
