Hymer Nova LED road lights need a conversion box?

I tow with a Landrover Discovery Sport and currently changing from a Swift to a Hymer Nova GL 585, 2017 model, which like the Swift has LED road lights. Because of the low wattage of LEDs it was necessary to fit a Sargent box to increase the wattage load to the tow car. Without it the car did not recognised the caravan had been hooked up and the reversing sensors sounded, no trailer warning sign on the dash board when indicating and the car's trailer stability control did not operate. I have phoned Sargent who do not make a box for Hymer and the Hymer dealer was unaware of any problems. I would appreciate if anyone towing with a similar combination knows whether there was any issues.

"The Hymer dealer was unaware of any problems". unbelievable.at the very least this common occurence should have been pointed out by the Hymer dealer.

Another reason not to buy anything German.

I'm afraid I had 19 reasons to buy German. That't how many faults I had on a new top of the range Swift Elegance in the last 18 months.

It’s outrageous that all vans aren’t made compatible with LR wiring as it only Land rover seem to have the problem.   A friend with a Freelander bought a sprite 10 day’s ago.

I can only suggest you contact Hymer direct or Schaudt who I guess will have done the electrics

    Hi Tirril

I wish this forum had a PM facility but there you go.   We have a Hymer 590GL which has been great, but I have some reservation about the supplying dealer.  Drop me an email on oddboff@gmail.com if you want
