Min Y Don Bliss to Sadness
Hi
WE arrived at MIN Y Don on the hottest weeks of June average Temp 27 to 31 degrees c. The site is perfect everything you want pitches a little small Toilet Block the best l have seen, never closes, its a 20 min drive to the nearest Supermarket in Porthmadog, small village shop that caters for all your needs if you don't want to travel to Tesco, disappointed with Royal st Davids Golf Club, don't take English Union County cards, would have cost us £150 for the wife and l to play totally out of the question, all in all though Harlech was brilliant beach just ten min walk away, train station ten min walk.
Now for the Sad bit we have two lovely Yorkshire terriers both Sisters, when we went get one my Daughter wouldn't leave the other as they were very close joined at the hip you might say, so dad had bring both back. They are called Holly and Daisy both names picked by wife and daughter. we have had them for 13 years, Daisy two years ago started with arthritis in a back hip so was prescribe painkillers which worked wonders s she could still enjoy the walks. On the second day we had trouble keeping both dog rehydrated with the heat so we kept them in the van wit a fan blowing, little daisy suffered the most so we made the decision to go home to giver her a better chance, alas it was not to be, all day Thursday she was poorly so booked the vet on the Friday who agreed with the wife she was in renal failure, at which point we had to end her suffering and had her put to sleep. Its been a week now and we still miss her so does her sister Holly, What started has a wonderful weeks holiday ended in sadness but life goes on and our priority is to make sure Holly is loved so she hopefully will forget her in time.

So sorry to hear about this Heathers. It hits very hard when you lose a dog. Ours is the first dog we have had. She's now 7 and we absolutely dread the day when we will eventually have to say goodbye. Good wishes to you at this difficult time.

Very sorry to read your news Heethers - it's one of the really sad things about sharing our lives with dogs (or any other animals come to that.) We've been there a couple of times and we're approaching the time when we're going to have to go through it again.
But you'll always have cherished memories of all the good times you've had at home and away with Daisy and I'm sure Holly will keep your spirits up.

Very sorry heethers, it's terrible losing a much loved pet. This heat has taken a lot out of our furry friends. Treasure the times together, and heap lots of attention on your little Holly. All the best.....

So sorry to hear about Daisy. Holly will need a lot more cuddles now. I too dread that day, having been through it once too.

Such sad news. Pets are members of the family. They enrich our lives, and give us so much joy during their short lives. You can love your pets as much as human family members and, as such, the grief is just the same. As the previous poster said, give Holly all the cuddles you can, xx

Sad news indeed - I lost one before Christmas but her friend didn't appear much bothered - but they weren't particularly close. She now has another companion but again they aren't very close. Holly will need lots of cuddles though I am sure as will you.

I am really sorry to hear your sad news, I do not have a dog or pet of any kind but can appreciate, and indeed have seen the strong loving bonds that exists between you.

Very sorry to read your post , I know how you must be feeling having lost my two border collies in less than two years both on holiday. In time when the hurt is not as bad you will have many happy memories of you Daisy and how much happiness she gave you.

I thought this was a discussion forum? Not quite sure what the point of the post is. I imagine that every dog lover feels sympathy whilst the rest of the community are a bit puzzled. Either way it doesn’t seem much of a discussion topic, just a whole bunch of arguments provoked by one poster who clearly doesn’t have a dog. Me? I prefer people on the whole but I do like dogs.

The OP has told us about the site and its pros and cons. That alone is reason enough to post and start a discussion.
The OP then goes on to relate the sad tale of Daisy and it’s something many of us can empathise with.
Is there really any need to effectively tell Heethers that there is no point to the post as it’s not a discussion topic? Talk about being further provocative! It’s clear from your activity which side of the divide you stand on.

Well, I don’t have a dog but I have known many people who have been deeply affected by the loss of a pet so I do sympathise. If we didn’t go faraway so often we would probably join the dog community.

Sorry to cause so much fuss,l probably should have said that we had to leave site half way through our holiday due to us realizing we had a problem with Daisy. We took the decision to leave early and not bother about the cost so has to give the little dog a chance, alas when we arrived home we accepted the fact that she would need to be put sleep, at least we had some time with her at home, couldn't have beared the thought of having to go to a vet while we was a way. It was not my intentions to stir up an hornets nest.
Holly is slowly coming around to Daisey not being their, she still gets up in the morning dashing around looking for her but slowly its getting less. Thank you to all those members for their sympathy, and to those few who obviously took offence,l am sorry for you
