What areas have they introduced a hose pipe ban? They have had much more rain in some of the holiday areas than where I live and we do not have a ban. In any case I hardly think it applies to the use you intend.

I was wondering the same. Although as it is not use continually (as in a sprinkler) I would not think it applies either. You wouldn't be able to use it to wash off the van though.😇😱

As I understand it, in Northern Ireland where they have one, it is not lack of reserves, but the inability to get it through the water treatment plant fast enough to cope with demand,

When we last had a hosepipe ban you were still allowed to top up pools. I use a hosepipe to fill my motorhome tank  and I would not expect any ban to stop that use.

I think if a club site or CL were in an area where they had a hosepipe ban the wardens/owners would inform their clientele.

SteveL is right, ban in place in Northern Ireland.

Doesn't it make you laugh though? 8 months of continuous wet weather, some months with wettest records ever, we have 3 week's of sunshine and already hosepipe bans are being muted (not by the OP btw) Whatever next? England winning the World Cup? Pumfhh 😀😉

It's a misleading term, at least if some folks take it so literally! It used to imply that the washing of vehicles, watering of gardens, i.e. where a hosepipe might be used, is banned for a period. There was usually guidance on how much water to have in a bath, take a shower as an alternative, put a brick in the loo cistern.

Whatever savings might be achieved pales into insignificance when compared with what water companies themselves waste via unfixed burst pipes, etc.... But it conjures up the "all in it together" spirit. I think Severn Water area was contemplating implementing a reduction in use last week, not sure if it's in place yet though.

    I wouldn't worry about a serviced pitch.

Agree TTDA and I think more water is now wasted than ever, as households "rinse" the bottles, jars et al before recycling.

quite agree j57. with all the rinsing of food containers down the drains we have more and bigger "fat balls" to block them up.

Came back on Monday past Clywedog reservoir in Mid Wales and it appears full.

It nearly always appears full and as it doesn't supply water to anyone, it will likely stay that way unless the Severn needs some? Gorgeous spot though.

No hosepipe ban in Scotland. We have built enough reservoirs to supply our population.

No water authority, except NI, have actually said that they intend imposing a hose pipe ban. All that they've been asking is that the general public are more careful with the amount of water that they use as the WAs can't keep up with the demand through their filtration plants although there is plenty of water in their reservoirs.

Clywedog is released into the Severn and taken out near Shrewsbury for drinking. Hope the cleaning works as its gone past a lot of dairy farms by then plus some other undesirable outlets no doubt. Its quite low before winter and used to alleviate flooding further down. Great trout fishery for our recreation.

Wouldn't of thought so as you are using the same amount of water - just connected directly to the mains instead of an aquaroll
