Sleeping in the awning
I'm sure I've read somewhere that we are not allowed to sleep in the awning, but I can't find that rule anywhere. Does it depend on the site or is there a blanket rule? (pardon the pun)

As far as I am aware nothing to stop folks sleeping in awnings. We have done it many times, as have friends visiting. (You do need to inform Wardens of visitors staying overnight) A lot of awnings used to come with bedroom annexes available to zip in. I sure quite a few families still do it when weather suits. It's sort of tent camping plus........

We have been joined by our son and DIL2B for 2 nights on a club site. They have a tent to sleep in on our pitch cleared with the wardens before we booked. Added bonus no charge for their car as we don't have one. No different to sleeping in the awning.
Yes there is certainly one member who has sleeping attachments for their awning and has used it on several club sites.

I did wonder, only I heard a warden with a very raised voice last week (I think she wanted the whole site to hear) shouting "I knew it, I knew it, the curtains were drawn and they're sleeping in there, they'll have to go, they'll have to go!" I'll not mention the site for obvious reasons but I wondered if there may be by-laws for different sites,

Perhaps it wasn't about sleeping in the awning, but rather that the correct fees hadn't been paid? Bit of a half story if it's hearsay............

It may have been a case as they had not paid for the extra persons staying overnight

thanks all - I'm pretty sure it must have been about "unpaid visitors" sleeping over. There were one or two parties in awnings going late into the night and the visitors' car-park was often quite full. My brother-in-law had been sleeping in the awning (paid for) and it was the day he left when I heard the warden's comments so I wondered if she'd seen him leaving with his inflatable bed under his arm. I must admit there were some nights when his snoring woke me up and I worried about him waking the whole site!
