Serviced Pitch, Do you really need one.
My gripe is people booking serviced pitches for 1 or 2 nights at the weekend which they don't need, as they do not hook up to water or drainage. And I just cannot understand why some never use their facilities in their vans and take dishes and pans to the communal washing up area. There should be a minimum booking for serviced pitches of 3 nights as this would free up these pitches for people who really need them. A lot of none club sites have a policy of a minimum 3 nights booking during peak times for their serviced pitches. I have now taken to booking my serviced pitches a year in advance to ensure I get a pitch for 7 consecutive nights.

Members are free to choose which ever pitch they require AA, but if you have particular requirements, a phone call to the Wardens often helps. At least now, with the year advance booking system you can book in advance and get what you need.

I have no need at all for a serviced pitch, but strangely enough on occasions I've had to have one because there wasn't a standard pitch available. Although I used none of the facilities, the extra space was very nice.
Book a year in advance! I prefer to be more spontaneous and a week in advance is usually more than enough for me.

Actually, AA, you don't have to understand why people do what they do. They do what they choose on a pitch of their choice and it’s really none of our business to decide whether they need a particular type of pitch.
I'd already guessed before I reached the last sentence that your post was made because you hadn’t been able to get what you wanted so were calling for the system to be changed to suit you. How fortunate the club are now meeting your needs by letting you book so far in advance. That’s solved your problem.👍🏻

You can be spontaneous, 21 nights and adjust to suit.. well within the 72 hr rule when needed,this month two lots of 21 days, you can of course book from 4 July till end of August I believe,that is the system this is wonderful idea which I am using to the full at no cost.

I don't really know where to start replying to the OP.
Folk may choose a serviced pitch for any number of reasons - they may or may not use the extra convenience it offers, but are prepared to pay for what they may think is a better pitch or to guarantee a hardstanding. Or, if they're familiar with the site they may want to be in a particular area for the view, maybe. It's entirely within their right to do so - their money, their choice.
Similarly, folk may choose to wash up at the provided area for any number of reasons - more space, for example. Why would it bother anyone else.
As for a minimum booking of 3 nights - why? Why not 2 or 5 or 7? The club doesn't have to slavishly follow what commercial sites do - it offers an alternative system.
At the end of the day, AA TV, you must do what you feel is right for you. I could say I don't understand why anyone would book a site 12 months in advance, but then I don't have to understand do I. It's entirely up to you.

If a customer chooses and pays for a serviced pitch, it's up to them what they use. It's not for anybody else to complain that they are not using this or that. Many CMC members love the idea of using the public lavatories ; public showers and the public dish washing area. Why not, they have paid for it. Just as they have paid for electricity so they are entitled to use the full 16 amp bollard supply any way they like. -----If the CMC does not suit your style of caravanning, there are plenty of alternatives, many offering better value for money in more scenic locations. It's entirely up to you to choose a site which suits your requirements.

A lot book service pitches on the basis that it is more likely to be HS, being for some reason averse to the green stuff.

They are as you say very popular. It's why the club is installing more of them as they refurbish sites. We very much like them and usually stop for a week. However, you do have to book well in advance as they soon go. Take Bridlington, which has 18, you can still have any night you want in July on a standard pitch, but many nights are not available on the serviced pitches, and not just weekends.
I take it your 3 night minimum is to stop weekend Friday / Saturday night bookings. This would be grossly unfair. Why should someone be deprived of a service pitch for their weekend break.
In any event you now seem to have resolved your problem with a bit of advance planning.

yes, even on all those sites that are all HS, SP go first. What will that tell the club? More SP. I'm Ok with that as I always have them but some do not

Do as i say ........not as i do or need to do membership.
We seem to be getting a new breed of member ....it's the i'm entitled membership class .
Bookings of pitches have always been done on a first come ....first served basis & that should never ever change .
And there is no minimum nights bookings for any pitch type .
Future booking of pitches is available to everyone now . Jog on 👍
