Are C&CC members less fussy? Grass pitches seem to be the preference here!

Well that's what charging extra for HS does for you! Good job the CAMC don'the follow suit! wink

Thats why we rarely use CCC sites, how boring and lifeless that site looks.

The C&MC also do reduced rates for non EHU economy pitches. Check them out, £1.50 a night + per person rates.

Depending on season that could save you £8.00 a night.

Bit of a sweeping statement when you don't even know where it is and only a section of the site is shown. Actually I find the variation of outfits on a CCC site makes it far more interesting on a CCC site than on CMC sites.

Price may well influence choice but it shows many are not that bothered about using grass.

It would be "helpful" to understand where the site is and for what reason, (as you seem to know) rather than just post  pictures

Which site is that, PD? I must say I've been impressed by some of the C&CC sites we've used over the past couple of years  (Polstead, Devizes, Kingsbury, Wolverley particularly) but that particular one does have the "car park, rows of white boxes" look so derided by some on here - and where are all the trees? Hopefully, there are other, more pleasant areas on the site! undecided

It's Cambridge, which I prefer to Cherry Hinton.

If price is a factor in influencing pitch selection and the CMC wants to get serious about pitch type booking,  price differentiation will be the solution.

They are the Glamping tents that are on numerous ccc sites which according to the staff at Sandringham ccc are one of the reasons they have five couples to run the site in high seasonsurprised

Hopefull the fees charged to the Glampers more than cover the extra costs.  I would hate to think that either Club was using income from caravan fees to subsidise their new idea in order to get it started. It is bad enough loosing so many pitches from touring, plus of course, the pitches lost to extra wardens staying on site.

yes good point. I assume these 'pods' or chalets need cleaning between lets and therefore have higher running costs?

we went to Cambridge a couple of years back and stayed there, bit it was  a bit out of season and the grass wasn't open....the HS pitches were all just replaced when we were there. it looked very smart.

we visited Cherry Hinton to see what it was like, possibly the worst site we've seen, certainly the worst CC site we've seen...

dark, dingy, damp and not a patch on the open sunmy aspect of the CCC site.....

    IMHO, of coursewink

Not at weekends, site was just about full. The reason they 're in a line is for access to the EHU billiard which also serves that hard standings.

Out of interest have you been to Coniston Coppice? Be interested in the comparison. Cambridge is fairly local to us but a stay at a site would allow less focused visits 😉.

We went to Cirencester Park last year having previously been with a caravan. The hard standing pitches available sloped so badly we couldn’t get anywhere near level even with ramps. Without doubt the worst sloping pitches we have ever come across in many years of European travels.

You must have been very unlucky, then, H. Was the site very busy? We're you on one of the row of pitches backing into the park and looking across to the cricket pitch? Those are admittedly very sloped but we visit Cirencester very often and we've never had any trouble finding a level HS pitch. In fact I'm at Cirencester right now but on a lovely wide grass pitch with no neighbours either side of me! smile

PS - this year they've installed a number of large serviced pitches, all HS and billiard table level!

Just a tad 😉. We're sun lovers. I suggest see the thread Market Drayton to Coniston. I'll post this and then try for a link.

    Success 😆LINK

you won't need any sun creamsmile

There is a 'open' part at the top otherwise it's just lanes of trees, have a look at the site plan. If you're there for the walking it's great as a lot of wainwrights can be done from the site, (we did four in one day) but not for staying on site.

so they all wanted EHU? You pay extra for that on a CCC site?
