New booking and redevelopments

Hi all

i am thinking the new booking system is better for me but i was just thinking how will the club let people know about site redevelopments the old way of working you knew when the site was going to be redeveloped as you couldn't book it or they showed them on the redevelopment page. thus far i have seen no redevelopments planned for 2019.

so if i book a specific site and the club decides to redevelop it my booking will get cancelled and i have to hunt for a new site. my booking revolve around school holidays so could cause potential booking issues eg. Easter may spring bank holiday main school holidays.

how will this work or are there going to be no redevelopments next year????

cheers

steve

Currently the club have stated this:-

Redevelopment work and racecourse site race dates may impact the opening date for some sites - please see below for details.
    Sites opening later than usual

Some sites may be opening slightly later than usual due to redevelopments or for other reasons. At present the following sites are planned to open later than usual in 2019:

    Cadeside
    Cambridge Cherry Hinton
    Camelford
    Chatsworth Park
    Commons Wood
    Illfracombe
    Merrose Farm
    Modbury
    Northbrook Farm
    Penrhos
    Plymouth Sound
    Scarborough West Ayton
    Sutton-on-Sea
    Tewkesbury Abbey
    Tredegar House
    Racecourse sites

Pitches at the below racecourse sites for 2019 will be put on sale in due course once we know the dates of specific race day events.

    Exeter
    Thirsk
    Warwick
    Great Yarmouth
    Uttoxeter
    Cheltenham

No dates yet for completion of works. However, theoretically if not open it should not show available for booking. Although I know of one glitch in this respect.

Once booked you should be safe, although refurbishment could overrun. Or like us with Bridlington, you could get cancelled because they decided to close it for 2 weeks when it should have been open.

Nothing is entirely certain until, or even after you arrive, as even weather can have an impact.

For anyone interested Chatsworth is now shown available for booking from the 4th April to the end of June 2019.

Although the site page still says:-

We're currently planning exciting redevelopment to take place in 2019. Please note that, whilst this redevelopment work is being planned, pitches are not currently being put on sale for the 2019 season. We'll let you know as soon as they are.

i was allowed to book Chatsworth for a week in March 2019 when the booking system changed. It now looks as if this booking will not be available and that the Club were originally at fault in allowing it to be made. Should I expect advice from the Club to this effect and how many others with similar bookings are still blissfully unaware.

I replied on the other thread you posted on hywelsycharth. We are in the same situation.

Personally I would not hold my breath about being informed, they have had almost 3 months to do it. I think we have slipped through the cracks.

I will report the post and hopefully someone will check how many are involved.

    Thank you SteveL.

The Club will surely know the names and email addresses of those who hold these bookings and it should be a simple matter to send each a message explaining the situation. You would be entitled to expect this from a Club  of the stature of ours.

In the meantime book some time in April and hope that the refurbishment goes according to plan

    No response so far.☹️

I am sure we were told if we wanted to draw attention to anything to report it.🤔

    Hi everyone,

I have a reply from our Sites Team for you:

Thank you for your comments regarding bookings that have been made at Chatsworth Park during March 2019. Please bear with us as we finalise details around development plans for next year. We do not want to cancel our members bookings unnecessarily if we do not need to. If we do need to cancel any bookings, we will ensure that we advise affected members with plenty of notice. Thank you for your patience at this time.

If you have any other questions, please do get in touch.

    Hannah

    Thanks CH

I won't cancel it for now then.

I would be interested to know when they think they will have their plans finalised / what is the definition of plenty of notice? At the moment Castleton is available but we prefer Chatsworth.

Fortunately I did not cancel my booking, as Chatsworth is now showing available. It appears to be open in January, February and March, where previously it was shown as unavailable. Presumably the refurbismnent has been put on hold?

It would be interesting to know what refurbishments are planned for 2019 as I can no longer find any mention of them.

I was told by a warden, when I asked when his site was due to be upgraded, that the Club were setting up their own insurance company and that was taking financial priority. I have no way of knowing if that is correct. Mind you after buying two new Club sites, both of which require upgrading, will there be much money left for other sites?
