Leaving late on departure day
Yesterday for the first time in over 15 years of being a CC member I have had what can only be described as deformation of character by a club warden.
We are visiting a site and wanted to stay later than 12 noon on Sunday which, the Warden explained was not possible, which is absolutely fair.
Therefore my wife said no problem and could we please book for the Sunday night, but only for the pitch and one adult as we would actually all be leaving.
To which the warden stated no way you have to book for all of the members in the van for the night.
Having explained that we had been advised this is the way to do things by the club booking line many years ago, and had done so on many other sites we were told we were “telling lies”, being “deceptive” and “stealing from our club”
I am at a loss as what I am doing wrong. Please can you let me know what the rule is, I genuinely feel that it is very straightforward.
Purposely I have not mentioned the wardens name or location of the site as I will be taking the matter further.

I think the rule is you pay a pitch fee and a fee for the number of persons staying that night. Like you I often arrive earlier than my OH and often stay untill the next morning after they have gone in the late afternoon or early evening. I have done this many times and always just paid the pitch fee and one person and it has never been a problem. I suppose after 12 my OH (and possible one daughter) are classed as visitors but there is no charge for visitors providing they don't stay the night.
I hope you take this further. Also I would have gone back to the van and booked a one night stay for one person online and presented that!

I've done the same when wanting to stay later than 12 noon, booking just the pitch fee plus one adult several times without any problem.
What I find interesting is that, saying you couldn't stay on after 12 noon, would indicate to me that the site was fully booked. So how come they have a pitch available to allow you to book the extra night?
You need to contact the Club's HO.

Forgive me for being cynical, LP, but this couldn't possibly be another weekend first time contribution aimed simply at causing bad feeling and division, could it. I only ask because it's happened on each of the last two weekends with new posters simply trolling and there have been many and lengthy discussions on the subject of late departures. We've also already had one potentially discordant thread (Do's and Don'ts closed this weekend.)
I apologise if I've misjudged the case but there have been some rather indiscreet threads posted just lately.

Agreed, although there are a few exceptions, most sites empty out on a Sunday (at this time of year) and there are plenty of spaces. If it was one of the busy sites though, the Warden would be unlikely to grant an extension if only a few pitches were free, just in case someone is delayed in leaving.

+1, with apologies if I too am mistaken.
Mind you, I did have a chuckle at "deformation". Defamation I guess, typo strikes again!

Unfortunately my question and more importantly the manner in which my family was spoken to yesterday, are a true reflection, so on this occasion your cynicism is not valid.
I have spoken to a warden on a different site this morning, whom was brilliant and gave me some advice.
Having my integrity questioned is not something I am accustomed to, and I will not be accepting it.
If the guidance given previously of the rules is incorrect, then fair enough, I will review how we work, but there needs to be continuity of message and the ability to discuss like people rather than being slanderous and disrespectful.

To the OP - My advice is to report the fact that you are disappointed by the way you were treated to the CMC Head Office.
Mentioning your disappointment on this forum could lead to you being accused of all sorts of things by the few, but highly vocal " CMC can do no wrong " posters.

The thing with K's post is that they are very similar, or the same, to a complex number. There is a real part and an imaginary part
Actually that's not entrirely true, the imaginary part of a complex number is very useful.

I would amend it to
'CMC can do no right - but I still use their sites' posters
but like you I won't

Unfortunately there are some people in positions of "authority"who now deal with the public(members) who when interviewed for such posts are all "sweetness and light", and it is only when in such positions they find that they are really not suited (but will not realise?)and it will only be by feedback from (members) to Head office that a pattern (if noted) will emerge for action to be taken,
Ps sorry thought past job had been been "forgotten" as it was 24yrs ago

Well that's trashed the Club's Recruitment and Selection panel JVB!
Glad to know you are a real poster Lofty, and sorry to hear your stay was spoilt. Best to let HQ know what has happened. Sometimes interpretation can confuse both members and staff. On the whole, we find Wardens very nice, very helpful. I sometimes think they have to be saints dealing with some of the visitors. We've only ever come up against one less than nice Warden, a long time ago. It was sorted to my satisfaction!

I think all HR departments are it seems, these days swayed by the glowing CVs they receive from prospective employees, and in trying to "filter" them with minimal staff are losing the plot, when i hear from some that i employed years ago and what they are trying to work with now its not a case of lets go through the list its more "they need some one so lets grab the last couple of applicants rather than go through the whole "waiting list"

Oooh, hooker! How tetchy - and completely inaccurate. I mean, even K, whom I asked the question, hasn't gone that far! You must be reading posts very selectively if you believe that. Still why let the facts get in the way of a prejudiced view, eh?!!

Putting my hard hat on and await the usual crew grilling,if you removed the usual crew from posting and talking amongst them selves there would not be a lot on here,👍

which other forum am I on? And I think i have not supported the club on this post, but like m says, why let facts get in the way?

Hey, thanks for that hooker! I have pondered a few times as to whether or not I was included in any mythological "group" I don't actually recall being less than welcoming to new posters, but I admit to being pretty quick on those trolling or posting under a different name. Oh, and I occasionally participate in a dog fight, but always on the side of the maligned innocents. Only on one other forum, a small one, so have no idea about what goes on elsewhere. Happy to share info on nice CLs, old vans, certain areas of UK, oh.......and dog friendly places!
But you know this already.......... I do like your upfronted method of posting by the way!

Anyone who thinks I believe the club can do no wrong hasn’t read my posts properly.
Should have gone to Specsavers, Hooker 😁

I have not said that, it is when a new post is done over by the crew ,I call them, like a pack of wolves, then its gets nasty when the crew start biting lumps out of each other, the original post content takes a back seat or either goes around in circles until it's put to sleep by a moderator.😀

Hijacked again by a few splitting hairs.I have seen many late leavers on Sundays on a number of sites ( mostly off peak) and it has not caused any problems to others, the staff or new arrivals. Seems to work OK. Can even remember the warden at Culloden allowing me t keep my van on site until late evening whilst fishing Loch Ruthven and then going to another site that evening. Just ask, accept it will not be Ok each time and live with it.

"I have not said that,..."er...actually, yes you have - look back at you post on page 2, possibly written in the heat of the moment without proper thought or research?
