Hi, we have a 2010 Swift Challenger 570 and we are finding our mattress uncomfortable. A couple of years ago, we bought a matress topper (not a made to measure, just one we had and cut to fit ourselves.

This is also uncomfortable now and we are unsure whether to get a complete new matress but don’t know which either.

Just looking  for advice.

We replaced the one in our 2013 van, about four years ago. As you probably know Swift now use mattresses supplied by Duvalay, so that’s what we bought. They aren’t cheap but they are lovely to sleep on. Less obvious benefits are that they are much lighter than your original. They are also much more flexible than the original, which makes fitting sheets easier. Duvalay provide a made to measure service as well as holding patterns for quite a few vans. Good luck.

That’s the same caravan I own. I find a bottle of red or a few large scotches help make the mattress comfortable and aid a good nights sleep.laughing

If you have IKEA nearby, try their foam mattresses. I got the firmest and thickest one, cut off a corner, and have a very good nights sleep. Do some careful measuring first.

many continental vans use cold foam mattresses over a sprung (wooden slat or plastic 'Froli' supported) bases, rather than the sprung mattress over a flat unsprung base which I've seen on many recent vans.

ours (and the previous van) has the cold foam system (called multi zone, with different density 'firmnesses' in different areas to give the best support in the most appropriate places) and they really are great....

the under support structure also allows ventilation to circulate preventing condensation which can be an issue on flat (unsupported) mattresses...

i would agree with Bob and Jenny (above) and try either an IKEA type foam mattress or a Duvaly type one which have similar construction.

we had sprung mattresses in our Boleros and they were OK to start with but tent to lose support (and, therefore, comfort) with use...

    good luck.
