Motorhome touring holiday in UK

In July my wife and I will hire a motorhome and commence touring the UK for 6 weeks with no "set in concrete plans" staying at club sites and CLs on our travels. As members of this club, we have been receiving your monthly magazine. I have noticed in the magazine that the UK does not seem to cater for those who tour, staying only a night or two at any one location. Sites must be booked ahead, sometimes up to a year. Is this going to be a problem for us in July/August, your high season?

Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome. I hope you enjoy your time here as much as we did in New Zealand.

You will find some difficulties but they are not insuperable. Get a variety of site guides, use the search facility on UKCampsite.co.uk, widen your choices beyond Club sites and CLs, and make phone calls to sites a day or two in advance.

All good wishes - and please report back afterwards to say how you found us.

You might find the late availability section useful, see HERE.

This indicates sites pitches available at the busiest weekend times. There will be sites that appear to be full during the peak times but if you phone the sites direct you might find there have been cancellations etc. Good luck with your holidays, have a lovely time on your tour. Ask for info on here if needed. smile

No need to book 12 months ahead D&R unless you want Christmas Day in York Rowntree Park site perhaps laughing

During the main school holiday period sites can fill but the main problem is generally Friday and Saturday nights when weekenders add to the mix with those on longer holidays. It affects a number of sites more than others. A suggestion is to book ahead at least for the Saturday night where possible if you have some idea of route. Changes can still be made to bookings if needed.

Hi Dennis and Rose and welcome to Club Together and the Club. As already mentioned we have our late availability tool and you might also find our search by map useful as you can search for both UK Club Sites and Certificated Locations (CL Sites) too.

Also as members to the Club you will get 15% off Experience Freedom motorhome hire and free collision damage with Swift Go.

Happy touring in the UK and let us know how you get on. cool
