New Club Site: Bingham Grange

I've asked the question on the other thread running at the moment, but not yet had any real answer, if there was any realistic prospect of the site continuing to run profitably as an AO site, why were there seemingly no alternative bidders willing to take it on as such? And if there were such bidders it doesn't say much for the previous owners' loyalty to customers that they decide to sell it to the club.
As has already been said, all club sites are available to all members and rightly so - that surely is the distinction provided by being a club with a membership fee, however much others may dispute the validity of the title "club". It's sad for previous customers who enjoyed it as an AO site, agreed, but would surely have been even sadder had it closed completely.

The club is hardly setting an example when it has members only sites!! How inclusive is that?

Totally inclusive to all members which an AO restricted site wouldn't be.
Are you suggesting the club should be catering for the public at large rather than members?

Sorry, you've lost me there. I think the clue is in the title - "club" .
I can understand that you may be disappointed and choose not to use it any more. On the other hand, thousands of fee paying members with families will now be delighted that they can use it.

almost lost for .... oh yes ....words
But anyone can join the club, how inclusive is that!!!!

The Caravan And Motorhome Club is open to anyone who wishes to join. However, there are sites that non-members can use as this is a requirement of some leases or local authorities. I can't really see why people would not want to join the Club if they wish to use the sites. It is cheaper if you are a member and if you stay on a site for around four nights you would recoup the amount you would pay extra as a non-member..

Surely what it is called is rather academic. You pay a fee to obtain a service at a reduced price. In paying that fee you sign up to the terms and conditions. Those terms permit adults, children and dogs to stay at all CAMC sites. Why would anyone expect that to change just because the club has taken over an adult only site. As with any take over, it is unrealistic to expect things to stay the same.

Fully agree with you Steve. At the end of the day people look at club sites and the club itself and ask themselves if they want to join and/or go to the sites. The joining fee is out there in the open, there is no deception, dishonestly, no trick. A simple joining fee. Take it or leave it. Other products are available, no monopoly on sites as have been claimed before.
It is strange that posters claiming this dishonesty still join and go to club sites? You would think that as they have seen through such 'deception' they would not?
Prices out in the open. People want to join/go for the services they get, it is really that simple. The club offers a quality product, or a product that people want in fact a lot of people want it, hence all the moans about not getting pitches.

Indeed it is. Take the National Trust. Not far from us is one of their premier properties Hardwick Hall. For a family to visit Old and New Halls it is £52.60. Plus £4 parking. Or they can take out a family membership for £120 a year ( often with an introductory free 3 months) and visit unlimited properties.

Are you a member of the National Trust, David, or RHS or HHA? You pay a membership fee to join and then get reduced (or free) entry to their (otherwise expensive) sites. So there's an incentive to join. How is that different from CAMC membership?

maybe because AD likes those other organisations?

well it's sad isn't it. Some posters just can't get their heads around that people may actually want to stay at club sites and like they are getting? either we are not 'savvy' enough there is better outside the club or we are now being conned into paying by the dishonest club and their underhand methods.

We have been members for 40 odd years. However, the deals I have seen, were the same as the one we got from English Heritage, which we joined a few years ago. You signed up to direct debit payments, the first immediately the second after 15 months and then annually. If paying monthly they would not kick in for 3 months. So 3 months free.

yes seen lots of those offers down the years, often at the sites themselves.
We have the equivalent Scottish versions which were cheaper and at the time you could pay by monthly DD.
I haven't been noticing how much more expensive these individual entry prices at these places have become over the years. On our trip to the Edinburgh site at Easter I was shocked to see the castle is now £17 per person. I worked out that the places we visited in that one ten days easily paid for the membership itself.

.....".... hence all the moans about not getting pitches. ".....
which are almost as numerous as those threads/posts moaning about the high, and relentlessly increasing, prices.....
probably the no1 topic after the 'D' word....
even one of the clubs 'most ardent supporters' has recently said they will not visit certain sites as a direct result of the clubs pricing
