    That might cost them money!

Our Sprinter was level - perhaps the RWD helped it be so.

The current Auto-Sleeper models have built in gas tank and a Truma regulator specifically designed in such a way that the gas can be left on.   This has the added advantage that you can have heating going when travelling should it be necessary.

We are so looking forward to getting or motorhome as the list of things which make life simpler seem to grow with the passage of time.  We know there will be disadvantages to but we are mentally prepared for those.

Unfortunately, AS do not allow you to use the heating whilst travelling. The controls are locked out. Cab heating is usually enough though.

Our AS handbook explains the gas can be used on the move, HG, providing the controller is set appropriately. It's as Q says.

Maybe with different models? Nothing in our handbook and the dealer told us that it was inhibited. I will check the handbook again and maybe post on the AH owners forum.

Or maybe a new innovation. I’m not sure how old yours is HG but I can see it’s post 2015 facelift. Ours was converted last August/September and has a gas tank. Q is talking about the brand new Merc based models.

That could be the case and I have posted a question on the AS Owners Forum - they seem to know everything! Ours is 2016 Peugeot and having checked the handbook there is no mention of it. If allowed, I assume this is heating only and not the fridge.

Yes, it’s the heating system. I’ve never tried it on the move, mind.

guys, I believe the issue here is something to do with NCC regulations or recommendations....and this is that, when the engine is on, the habitation electrics must go off....

this means that a Truma system in a UK van won't work, as the fan needs 12v power, despite the converter spending your cash to fit a Drivesafe regulator and rupture proof hose...

of course, in Continental vans, like so many other 'electrical things' life is different....and genuinely 'simple'..wink

if the habitation electrics are on, they stay on after start up so useful things like lights, water pump, heating pump, panel info, USBs etc, etc all just work, exactly as they would on site....

no doubt thise lovely Mobilvettas that have just 'gained NCC accreditation' (obviously not an advantage) must now have their sensible habitation electrics emasculated......ouch.undecided

You may very well be right, BB, but our handbook definitely says the gas heating can be used on the move. I’ll let you know one day. smile

BB, it looks as if our heating control panel may not be fed from the hab unit control panel.

Over the years we have had quite a few motorhomes now we have a caravan, miss certain things about having a motorhome but still in favour of the caravan. As has been said it depends on the individual and on their style of traveling and campingsmile
