The Commune of Arzon is in the Departement of Morhiban in south Brittany. Arzon has two municipal campsites and we’re at Camping Port Sable by the Plage de Port Sable at Port Navalo. Our view is of the Atlantic, while over the headland is the entrance to the Golf du Morhiban.

The campsite is adjacent to the beach with a gated entrance to the coastal footpath

which goes to Port du Crouesty (and Intermarche) in one direction,

and Port Navalo in the other.

The pitches nearest to the sea are sloping and not suitable for larger outfits. Further back there are full-sized level pitches some with newly planted hedging. There are two large modern ‘blocs sanitaire’ (unisex). Be aware: the Reception closes between 12 and 2.30 and you can’t get on the site (but there is a waiting area).

There are footpaths and cycle tracks all around and you need a fair degree of mobility to get around and appreciate the area fully.

Down at the port you can take boat trips to the islands and other ports in the gulf. There’s also a bus service to Vannes, the major historical city of the region.

We came for a couple of nights and stayed for five. The weather has been good and we managed another Sunday lunch of Crepes and Cidre in the sunshine,


before watching the boats and yachts.

    Ps: a nice little story – man on the ride-on mower blew grass, twigs and dust into our towels, which were hanging out to dry, when tidying the vacant pitch next to ours. He apologized profusely and a few minutes later re-appeared with a tokens for the washing and drying machines and a sachet of detergent – about 10€’s worth!

    It's always nice to hear from you brue! Tomorrow we're off to the Vendee and hopefully another interesting place. We're avoiding the Pont de Saint Nazaire as it scared me witless 30 years ago, and I vowed never again!

    Lovely photos and good to read of your travels. As brue says you certainly find some fabulously beautiful places to stay. I'm keeping notes 😃. 

    Oh my I hate the QE2 bridge as a passenger wouldn't dream of driving over it 😲 but that bridge looks worse!

    I'd love to see the Humber bridge and the one from Denmark to Sweden - fantastic engineering but...............

    Edit I have just showed OH your photos and then the bridge. He said OMG high isn't it? I think I'm safe. He's not usually fazed 😂
