Terrible map search facility!

The caravan club should be ashamed of themselves for the terrible map search that they impose on members.  We would like to search for a CL with EHU that is close to a beach in an area, but when using the map to search you cannot do this and it throws up CLs with no EHU, miles from a beach etc.  There is no way I am clicking on every one to find a decent CL with EHU and close to the beach. We are wondering why we are paying +£50 for membership?

You know your area you want to be in, you know where the sea ends and land begins, is it that hard to zoom in and look at the few CL's that appear on the map in the area of interest.

The map is by no means near perfect, but it is manageable without throwing a tizzy. But if it's all too much for you then get the scissors and chop your card in half.

Surely it's easy enough with the paper map and the site directory, as long as you know roughly the area you want visit.

Quite  agree  NTH,  I've  always  treated  this  forward  searching & planning  as  an  integral  part  of  the  Holiday  Experience,  dammit  it's  exactly  what  we  used  to  do  when  I  got  my  first  ex- WD ridge  tent  and  my  A35  van.

I don't understand the problem. Admittedly I've never used the map search or had a reason to. Surely you pick a location first. Then use the CL search by county/town which'll usually reduce things down to maybe a dozen sites. Doesn't seem too difficult to me, and we use a lot of CLs! smile

It is easy enough to put a seaside town or village into a search (or a postcode). Choose EHU and Seaside and search is a doddle. I have a.so used map and put in a post code. Simple realy

I agree, you also have the option to select CL's within five miles of a beach using CL search.

Surfer - tell us what beach, in what area you are looking for. There are probably many of us on here who can use our knowledge of CLS to point you in the right direction!

If you'd like to book a CL direct, and want to do it from a map, try this newmap of 30 CL's that have online booking.

For background and caveats about the map see another recent post on CT

If you are into Non EHU CLs then there is a map of 430 you can also search together with a Non EHU list with links to CAMC listing etc  or see the Sticky here for more details

Just like the club app - no names in the contact details.

The data list & the map were created to allow users of Non-EHU CLs (Off Grid) to locate them in areas they are planning to visit, as currently you cannot search the CAMC website for Non-EHU sites.

I have not purposely shown site owners names or contact details due to GDPR regulations! but have provided a direct link from the list or the map to their listing on the CAMC website, where if you are a member you can login and retrieve these.
